ISY994i & Ployglot V2 Questions

So, I've been an ISY994i user for years and very happy with it's operations - I just set things up and left well enough alone.  Now, I know that I'm late to the game here but I have acquired a bunch of smart plus (not TP-Link but should be compatible).  I would like to integrate them and have read a bunch about just hosting a node server (RPi or VM) with Ployglot-V2 and a Kasa node server?

Is that the best way to go?  I would like something simple and easy.  I've spent about 4 hours attempting to get a VM set up with polyglot-V2 and Kasa but as I understand it Kasa requires at least python 3.6 to function?  Debian Stretch doesn't have v3.6 out of the box?  Should I be using another distribution?

I don't want a Polisy or eISY as I have too much hardware already.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, the best way to go is the one you refuse to use. Being that V2 is deprecated and will not be receiving any updates to keep running, I think you're probably beating a dead horse going that route.

I have a couple of Kasa plugs and use Home Assistant to integrate them into my system.  I have HA running on a Rpi4 and is a fairly simple solution to integrate Kasa and other protocols (Nest, Blink, SmartHQ, MyQ, etc) into a single interface.

@GHook your comment about having enough hardware and not wanting more, is understandable.

However, just to be clear, the Polisy or the Easy would REPLACE the 994i, so you aren't actually adding hardware, but replacing. From there you would now have access to all the node servers on PG3, which is quite an extensive list (most are listed here https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/221-polyglot-v3-node-servers-pg3/).

I have 12 node servers running including the KASA for TP link plugs and they all work great. Greatly expanded the usefulness of the ISY, now called IoX (Isy on eisy).

Good luck.
