Upgrading 2476D v35

Hi,

I have 32 2476d v35 that need to be replaced. Smarthomes has agreed to replace all the units at no cost to me but I need a plan to update all the units before I replace them all with out having to reprogram my ISY.

My question is:

1) What is the best way to upgrade the 2476D’s with minimal reprogramming to the ISY 99 pro running 2.7.12?

2) Will all my programs involving the current ones be lost?

Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Hi Chris,

I've just completed 7 with 4 more to go and with ISY its quite easy but it will take some time.

1) Replace hardware and note device address for each location.

2) Go to ISY-->Link Management-->New Insteon Device

Enter name similar to current name of device i.e 'Foyer - New'

Enter the address of the new device

Leave Auto Discover as device type

3) Under the network tree click on the old device name and select Replace 'Old device' with the new device name.

After ISY is complete it will close down and once you restart everything should be changed for you, including scenes and programs.

Note: If you have placed any devices in an ISY folder, you will have to remove them from the folder before replacing them.

Are they replacing these switches across the board, or just limited cases? What criteria are they using for the free upgrade?

I've just had all mine replaced. I think they have acknowledged there is an issue with the v.35 firmware so if you have any v.35 SwitchLincs installed on your ISY network I'd get them all replaced.

I dont think there is a problem when they are linked directly with other devices.

Steve Lee was the contact for me.

Smarthome replaced all devices that were v35 without question, and they were purchased more then a year ago. I told them I was having communications issues with v35 and the ISY and they said it was a known issue and would replace them. I had to do an advanced replacement as it is not practical to return the swl before you receive new ones so I had to give them my credit card info but will not be charged if the old units are returned within 30 days. You have to give credit to SM for doing the right thing for it's customers which is rare these day!

Mine are all V 2.7, 2.8, 2.9. (Probably 5 Years Old). Does that qualify?

First, does anyone know if there is a problem with v35 Togglelincs?

Also, can someone summarize what the problem with the Switchlincs is? It's kind of hard to glean from the posts. My Togglelincs don't respond to scenes reliably, though they usually respond well one at a time. Is that one of the issues?

Hi Tom,

The issue is precisely what you are describing: unreliable communications via scenes but direct commands work. In some cases, the device may also cause a flux of noise on the INSTEON network and thus cause other devices to become unreliable as well.

With kind regards,

Michel

Greetings,

I have several SWL (Relay) units that have been acting up (missed control events, ISY reporting "difficulty communicating with ...") and report through AutoDiscover type as v 35. Smarthome agreed to switch these out, but now I have pulled the first couple of devices to switch them out I see they have little stickers on the front tab that says "v4.1".

So is the sticker right or the ISY or are these talking about different things?

Thanks for your advice.

The sticker on the unit is the Hardware Revision and most times does not match the firmware version. I have even seen two different hardware revision KPLs with the SAME firmware version.
