Nothing changes.

Modules do not transfer from 1 isy to another from a backup/restore process like standard devices, scenes, and programs. UDI has to do it. This will now cost you 125 bucks

Ahh yes I understand now, thank you. So having a few spare ISYs with the modules already activated would work (and be cheaper to perform now on multiple ISYs rather than having to rely on module transplants in the future).

What assistance do you need from Michel? If you're referring to the portal, you would simply add them to your portal account while you can and purchase a license. No difference than with the others. Once you purchase the modules for each one, you could then restore from your previously created backups of the other units.

He has already helped me by removing previous ownership, so I can add them to my account and add the modules as necessary. You are prevented from adding an already registered ISY, they have to be 'unlocked' first.

As long as the ISY lasts, you may be taking unnecessary steps. Most isy's that stop working can either be fixed by replacing the micro sd card or the transformer. Besides that, by the time it does stop working, there probably would be even less support for it at that time forcing you into an upgrade.

I hear you but we are each our own use-case. I may be having to add ISYs to another few remote sites, so maximizing my box of stock now (adding to account and adding modules) sounds like the right thing to do. If portal access also hits EOL for them, I have remote access ability for admin using Computesticks.

I use zwave and x10. Making sure these modules are active on the units should allow for further installations and have a few spares left over.

I understand that. Unless you already have devices in those locations, you might be better served with using a modern system...especially with the way zwave works.

I should add 'most' of my spare ISY's were unintentional purchases that came bundled with Insteon hardware, so it's mainly circumstance that I have them. For a few extra bucks I would rather try and use them.

One comment, if you are using node servers on pg2, that system is no longer being developed and will eventually be shutdown. PG2 was able to run on a rpi, but the feature is with PG3x, which will only run on Polisy or eisy.
