Somfy ZRTSI Z-wave controller

Has anyone successfully included the Somfy ZRTSI Z-wave interface into either the Polisy or eisy using the Zmatter board?

I want to make sure that it will work correctly prior to moving it over from the ISY994

I've run a ZRTSI for a couple of years on my Polisy.  A few things to be aware of:

It's a 300 series device, solid but slow

It will include as 17 devices (1 controller and 16 nodes)

I just reached out to @Michel Kohanim& @Chris Jahntwo days ago to see if I could reclaim some device pool space, it's a Somfy issue. I'll be submitting a request to them but I wouldn't hold your breath.

If you've got the headroom, I would definitely recommend it vs the URTSI, no net resources to wrangle and a cleaner hardware package if it needs to be positioned in a public area to extend your RTS signal reach!

@bigmojo

Which Z-wave dongle are you running on your Polisy, the Zooz or the Zmatter?

I currently have the ZRTSI running off my ISY994 with the 500 series board and it's been working without issues, but I would like to move it over to the eisy with the zmatter board and wasn't sure it it's currently compatible.

I recently spoke with Somfy to see if there would be any further development on the ZRTSI and was told that it will probably be discontinued.

I'm running the zooz-700 on 7.17 FW IIRC. I do have a new EISY w zMatter in house that I'm about to begin bench testing my different device types on.  Happy to do the ZRTSI first but I'm probably a couple days away from that if you can wait.

Re: Somfy it's ironic, they were super early to the zwave party and now that demand should be on the rise....

I'll reach out to Somfy and express interest in the ZRTSI, I'd encourage any other Somfy RTS users to do the same.

I have contacted Somfy several times about the ZRTSI product to see if it would work better than their MyLink and would give me a method to incorporate into the ISY. At the time I didn't have Z-Wave running on the ISY994, but would have it the shades could have been incorporated. I have 4 shades using Somfy RTS motors with a MyLink so I could automate the shades, but their process is rough.

Somfy directed me to use the Tahoma product to make it more "automation friendly". It's ZIgbee and Wifi based. I got it and couldn't ever get it to connect to a network. I finally got it, but at the time didn't have any Zigbee option to make things operate any different so I have remained with the MyLink.

I've never been happy with any development information from Somfy. They seem to be scattered that nobody knows what direction they are going. Now looks like even Tahoma is EOL. I don't know for certain, but last time I had a support case they said there was no current support available for Tahoma.

Would be great if they had a 700 series Z-Wave controller on the horizon, but figure the 300 series might be all they produce and support until it's really dead.

About the time I was trying out HomeAssistant the Somfy MyLink integration was removed. I think HA still has a Tahoma integration, but I didn't keep HA to try that route out. I was hopeful that with the ZMatter board that perhaps it would help with the Zigbee side of the Tahoma to allow me to link the RTS motors to the eisy.

@BigMojo interested in if you can get the ZRTSI to work with eisy+ZMatter. Take your time testing though...I'd have to get the ZRTSI device if it were to work, and just not sure I'd be willing to spend the money on it at this point...what we have works. At the moment.

I recently spoke with Somfy tech support. He said there is no future development for the ZRTSI and that it may be discontinued in the future.

Please let me know the results once you include the ZRTSI into the EISY.

It works reasonably well with Z matter board. While I had it connected with Zooz 700 I would get two devices listed in the admin console for each motor. One was On/Off and the other was on a 0-100 scale. The Z matter board connects reliably to the device with the 0-100 scale. Now to close my awning instead of turning the motor On, I put it at 100%. The device that would list On/Off motor settings does not connect reliably.

Hi Guys!

First my apologies this took so long, life got busy and I wanted to focus properly on this. ZRTSI works on the Eisy as well as it does on the Polisy. It should be noted:

  • My application is UP/DOWN storm shutters so I couldn't test interim positioning via Motor Control
  • Scene control doesn't currently work with the scene responders but at least it's there (not on Polisy)
  • Scene control works with the switches BUT you will command flood.
  • The ZRTSI likes to be spoon fed commands about every 2 seconds or more
  • You CAN NOT query position!
  • You eat 17 (or however many nodes you enable +1 for the controller) device addresses so there's a heavy hit to your pool versus the hoped for multichannel.
  • The RTS radio in the ZRTSI has better range than the URTSI

I'm leaving this install in place for now so if anyone would like further info, please ask.

@BigMojo

Thanks for the input. I've been running the ZRTSI on the eisy for several months without any issues. I noticed that your Binary Switch nodes are populated, mine are completely blank, not sure why

UPDATE: I ran Update with Interview on the Binary Switch nodes and now they're populated.
