loougood Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I am new to this and if I can get pool temperature, I will have isy controlling my pool. Can someone please do a you tube and/or step by step insruction starting with what to buy and ending with using tempereature in a program. Thank you
Panda88 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Do yoo just need the temperature or do you need the rest of the control as well? Getting the temperature is simple - making a control look that works is a lot more complex

Do you have any Universal Devices equipment, if so what? If you do have UD equipment, welcome to the forum. Tells us a bit more about your existing set up and what you would like to accomplish.
Goose66 Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 In addition to your UDI equipment, what kind of pool controller do you have?
loougood Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 I control my pool using Insteon on/off switches and 944i. I need to add water temperature, t control heater. Would be nice to display temperature.
Goose66 Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) First off, if you already have a pool controller, e.g., Jandy or Pentair, I don't recommend removing the current temperature sensor from that and using it for the ISY994i. But if you don't have a controller and are just winging it with ISY switches, then you could buy and install a 10-KOhm water temperature sensor designed for these types of controllers and build a circuit to interface it to an analog input with a supporting node server, such as the Contemporary Controls BASpi 6U6R. As I have posted before, I am not a big fan of having the ISY perform complex and critical control functions for systems such as pools, security systems, HVAC systems, etc., and prefer dedicated and directly connected controllers for those systems (i.e., respectively, pool controllers, alarms panels, thermostats, etc.). You can then find ways to interface each of these dedicated controllers with the ISY994i to create an integrated home automation system. Edited March 31, 2023 by Goose66 2
larryllix Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Check out CAO Wireless Sensors. We have a NS for wireless Tags. They are cheap, very accurate and have versions with wired sensors. Of course you will have to change the CR2032 battery every 8-12 months.
stevehoyt Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 If it is sensors you need, I am using yolink sensors to monitor pool ingoing and outgoing temp, along with the pool water level. It requires a hub and nodeserver like CAO. I Tried CAO, but my pool was too far away from the hub.
