800 series is not that big of a deal if you already have 700 series from what I have read. In fact, I made the decision to stick with 700 in my Home Assistant instead of going to 800 dongle, but I have option to upgrade at least.   

Makes me wonder now why the zmatter is so expensive?!?

Proprietary, ZigBee, zwave, material/build quality, additional programming support

Z-Wave.Me Z-Wave and Zigbee mPCIe adapter

If they woulda used a USB only design would have been way cheaper... strange because EISY only supports USB which adds this additional unneeded cost.

Anyways, doesn't matter much about the price as long as it works... but currently only is doing Z-Wave, not Zigbee (which is off-topic here - not to mention Thread... ;) )

I say proprietary because its designed for UDI systems not other 3rd party systems like zooz
