Replacement PLM Problems

After over 12 years of operation, my ISY994i system stopped working apparently because the PLM 2412s died. Status of PLM showed unable to communicate. I purchased a new PLM 2413s and have not been able to get the ISY994i and PLM to talk to each other. My ISY994i appears to be working, it still controls my one Zwave light. No insteon devices connect. Additionally, I am able to use the UDI IoX launcher to start up and open the Control Panel. I have turned off the ISY99i, plugged in the PLM, restarted the ISY994i and I get no communication between the two devices. From the control panel I've tried to reset the PLM and I get either a "Failed to Reset PLM" error message and sometimes a "Subscriber Connect Failure [0]" plus the Failed to Reset PLM. If I try to delete the PLM, it won't do it because it is not connected. I tried doing the reset PLM while having the PLM in Linking Mode (pressing LED button 4 seconds until it starts beeping) and running the Reset PLM. Nothing works. Any ideas?

Did you do a "Restore Modem" from your Admin Console after you connected the new PLM?

You can't just plug in a new PLM, you need to restore the links between all of your existing Insteon devices and the new PLM. Your ISY maintains a local record of this information and will download this information to the new PLM once you initiate a Restore Modem command.

You can also test your ISY's ability to communicate with the new PLM with the Diagnostics>PLM Info/Status command, that should return the Insteon address of your new PLM. If that doesn't work, there's an issue with the new PLM or the comms link between the ISY and the PLM....

DO NOT DELETE THE PLM.  if you do you'll be starting over.

As mentioned above did you "Restore PM", that needs to happen with a new PLM.

The PLM must be powered up and stable BEFORE the ISY is booted.  Usually plugging in the PLM and waiting 15 or 20 seconds is enough, then plug in the ISY.

Have you tried a different cable?  Although it's serial communication and not ethernet any standard networking cable will work.

If these suggestions don't help, then I suggest you open a ticket rather than randomly trying things (like delete PLM).

Thank you for the replies. Yes, I have tried the Restore PLM from the file menu in the Control Panel. And when I check the PLM status in the Diagnostics area I get PLM Not Connected (see screenshot). I tried replacing the CAT5 cable and that did not change the situation. Opening a ticket, since ISY994i is no longer supported, do I need to pay for support first before submitting the ticket?

I guess returning the PLM is my next recourse.

Where did you get the PLM from? If you bought recently and directly from Insteon then you should use their tech support to see if they can assist with any additional troubleshooting after you've read through the UDI wiki.

Otherwise, yes, hope you can return/replace what you've got.

@axmill8

To factory reset the PLM you need to unplug it, hold down the set button and continue to hold it down while you plug it in. The PLM will beep, wait until the PLM stops beeping before you let go of the set button

Remove power from the PLM and the ISY, then power up PLM first then the ISY. Click on Help | Diagnostics | PLM info. Does it show the PLM as connected?

I tried the factory reset the PLM, I then un-plugged it and the ISY994i, I then plugged in the PLM and subsequently powered and connected the ISY using a CAT5 cable. PLM Info/Status reports Not Connected. Restoring the PLM also fails. It appears this PLM is not working properly.
