Launcher Error Messages and KPL with no Button Back-Lighting

Two problems:

1. If I double-tap the Launcher. I get the message “Not Found” twice, once apparently for each of two networks. But, after acknowledging each message, the addresses for each network appear. When a LAN address js selected the Admin Console appears for the LAN. All appears well at that point. I can control devices and programs. However, today, an 8-button KPL no longer has back-lighting for buttons. The buttons still control but are no longer back-lit. A 6-button KPL in another room functions normally.

In summary, the Launcher is having problems and the 8-button KPL no longer has backlighting of buttons.

Firmware: 4.9.0

UI: 4.9.0

ISY 994i Pro

OS Ventura 13.4.1

Java version 8 Update 381

Deleted all three items in cache

The PLM is old.

You can correct this issue by clearing your Java cache being sure to check all 3 boxes. Next you need to download a new start.jnlp and run it.

This will download and place a new IoX Launcher on your desktop.

You mention in your post you deleted files, but you need to do it again and download new start.jnlp. The link is in wiki.

When you download the (new) IoX Launcher from here:

  https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp

It will place a Launcher on your desktop

I have now done this twice and a Launcher icon is not displayed on the desktop. Nevertheless, when I double-click on the start.jnlp icon on the desktop the launcher itself launches and all its features are there. So, seems like no big deal.

@smokegrub What operating system are you using on your computer?

It sounds like you haven't properly cleared Java Cache. Make sure you're checking all three boxes in that process. [EDIT: even though you say you did this in your first post this behavior is usually a result of not clearly java cache completely] In the past Java updates would remove the desktop icon, but didn't actually "delete" it so just running start.jnlp wouldn't add the icon back. Not until you clear java cache and select the "Installed Applications and Applets" would it truly remove the "hidden" desktop icon so start.jnlp would indeed re-add it to the desktop on next run.

Also, after you clear that cache download a fresh file from the link @Techman posted above. Make sure you delete/remove any old copies of admin.jnlp or start.jnlp from the computer.

If on Windows, open File Explorer (Windows key + E) view the "Desktop" folder then sort by name. It's possible you have a lot of icons on the desktop that might be taking up more space and new icons can't be added or are hidden.

This would have been better put in a separate post for help. But sounds like the device has gone bad. Make sure you've got the "Backlight" setting to be on. Then hit the "Backlight" label to the left of it. Note that when you first look at it the option shows 0/0. You might need to adjust it to different settings to make it work.

Although, looking at your first post you're still on 4.9 so it might not be "broken" like it is in 5.x. It's been years since I used 4.9 to set Keypad backlighting.

Besides what @Geddysuggests, it might be necessary to delete your "state" files. Look in the wiki if you need directions.
