jpoje Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 (edited) I recently migrated to EISY. I knew it wouldn't be easy for me as I'm not an expert and quite a bit older since purchasing my first ISY in 2011. I do however like a challenge and have my entire home automated, every light switch, garage doors, gate, fireplace, audio, media devices, some colored lights, cameras. What ISY didn't do for me, the harmony hubs, bonds, IR, bluetooth, etc have done and all integrated into Alexa working nicely. So my goal with EISY, is to integrate my harmony hubs, bond hub, cameras, etc into the new EISY so I can create new programming there instead of relying on Alexa routines. I knew I would lose the IR control with EISY, but thought having the harmony hubs in EISY would eliminate the need for the IR function. After spending a few days repairing all my ZWave locks, motions, programs, etc. I am now ready for PG3 and adding "node servers". I have not been able to login to Polyglot 3x on any of my computers or laptops. I have tried all the fixes from wiki and previous forum posts, updates, resetting passwords, reboots, logging into portal at same time, etc, but still cannot login to Polyglot 3x. I am however able to access the Polyglot store (I think?) from my Iphone (UD Mobile), I obtained license for free trial of Harmony and was able to set it up as Node Server 1 in Admin Console, but I can't get any farther than that (no nodes show up for harmony in admin console and I did go into harmony app to enable a setting that was required). So, question is, is this as far as I can go without being able to login to Polyglot 3x? Is logging into Polyglot 3x, the only way to get all this new stuff (node servers) working? I appreciate help and/or suggestions. Edited September 26, 2023 by jpoje
dbwarner5 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Yes, you will need access to PGx to manage your NS. Sounds like you have tried quite a few things. Are you getting to a login screen for pgx? You should get one here: 'https://192.168.68.76:3000/login' (replace red address with your EISY address). If you have access to your AC, have you tried clicking on the NodeServers menu and at the bottom click on PG3? Your system may show slightly different words as I have not made the jump to 5.7 yet. See screen shot below. Also have you checked under Configuration/ Portals tab in the AC to see if the portal is online? Stick with it as the integration makes life much smoother than tying to program things through Alexa. If you continue to have trouble or someone else here cant help, you should open a ticket at UDI's website. Good luck!.
jpoje Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Thank you for the quick responses! My IoX firmware is 5.7.0 as is Admin Console 5.7.0. Yes, I do reach the PG3 login page in browser (I've tried several computers, laptops and several different browsers). I've launched the PG3 page from inside Admin Console and tried from the IoX finder. Each time I receive a red pop up screen with an error, like others mentioned in another post. I have checked inside Admin Console and indicates portal is online, registered, etc. I also migrated my portal license to the new EISY and deleted my old ISY.

Can you share a screenshot of the error or link to the other posts you mention? Without seeing your error there's little that we can do to help. Most would just be suggesting what you said you've already attempted by reading the wiki and/or other posts. Also, let us know the following: Computer OS (Windows, macOS, other) Browser(s) you are using or tried using Are you running any antivirus/vpn/pop-up blocker? Do you have different V-Lan setup inside your network? Is the eisy connected via wi-fi or wired network? Lastly, since you said you've tried all that you have seen mentioned in the wiki/forums it might just be time to open a support ticket with UDI (https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets) to see if they have thoughts for how to get you into PG3x interface.
jpoje Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Microsoft Surface Windows, HP PC Windows. I tried Firefox and Edge. I have Nord VPN but is disabled, ad blocker disabled. I do have PC Matic. Not sure what a V-Lan is, I have an Archer AX11000 WiFi Router and I have the EISY wired to directly to the Archer.
Solution Geddy Posted September 27, 2023 Solution Posted September 27, 2023 @jpoje Thanks for sharing. Have you performed a full power cycle of the eisy? Even though you might have updated and then pushed the "reboot" button in Admin Console sometimes a full power cycle is still needed to get things working correctly. You can either press the power button 5 times to reboot the device or you can press it 6 times to power it down (power led should turn red) then unplug (just out of habit this has been suggested) then plug in and allow it to fully boot (3-5 minutes). (Source for button press: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Eisy:User_Guide#Multi_Function_Button) Then try PG3x again. 1
jpoje Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Okay, thank you, I will try that now. I previously only performed a reboot from inside Admin Console.
Geddy Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 6 minutes ago, jpoje said: That worked! THANK YOU! Glad it was that "easy". There have been some issues along the way with the reboot button not fully forcing a power cycle and something about the UDX or MQTT (or something "technical") not starting up right causing such an error. So a power cycle is usually the best option to fix that so the system fully boots up and starts the systems needed to launch PG3x and IoX correctly. Glad you're on your way! 2
jpoje Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 (edited) After pressing the power button 6 times, the LED never went red, so I waited and pressed 6 times again, LED never went red, so I unplugged power cord, waited a minute or so and plugged back in. Should the LED have turned RED after the 6 presses of the button? So now I see my Harmony Hubs and have no clue what to do with them LOL. Is there a "Polyglot for Dummies" book? 🤣 Thanks again. Techman Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 @jpoje When booting the eisy, the power button will only stay red for a few seconds. What's your firmware version.
jpoje Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 5.7.0 6 button presses was not turning led red at all, led stayed solid blue (so I don't think it was rebooting or power cycling). Now that I have pulled the power cord from the EISY, it forced a complete power cycle, all seems to be working as it should. Thanks! 1

Is there a "Polyglot for Dummies" book? 🤣 Thanks again. Glad to see you got it working... there are specific forums for each Node Server. Here is the one for Harmony Hub. https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/311-harmonyhub/ 2
Geddy Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 2 hours ago, jpoje said: Should the LED have turned RED after the 6 presses of the button? Yes, usually after the 6 presses it will turn red and stay red as that is the shutdown process. It's likely the system was in limbo since it seemed that an update didn't process correctly. Just out of precaution you might want to run the "Upgrade Packages" system again. But before you do try this URL: https://eisy.local:8443/WEB/sysconfig.txt (You will get an alert that it's not safe, you can ignore that and continue to the page/site - it's a local file on the eisy) Look for: isy-5.7.0_1 ISY Port to X (IoX) pg3x-3.2.6 Polyglot PG3x for UDI eisy udx-3.5.2_1 Polisy/eisy Admin Service These are what are shown on my system currently. Look for "isy-5", "PG3x-", and "UDX-" in case the actual versions are different on your system. If they're different (and earlier versions) then run the "Upgrade Packages" again just to be sure all updates are run and installed correctly. Then, as @dbwarner5 states there are forums for specific node servers (all under PG3 - https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/221-polyglot-v3-pg3/). Additionally, typically for each node server there is a "More Info" button in the description of the node server. That usually will take you to the GitHub "readme" file for the node server that might have more setup and information to review. If you have specific questions please post in the forum related to the node server you're working on and either the developer or others that use that node server can chime in to help. Tip: It might help to "mention" the developer when you post in the forum as some might not follow that area to get alerts. You can find the developer name in the store and sometimes figure out their user name here in the forums. To mention them type the @ then a list of names will pop up below and you need to select the name. It will then turn blue (like with the mention I have above). If it doesn't then the user won't get notified that you mentioned them in a post and your post could go unread for a while. Unless others that can help visit the forums and see your message as "unread" to them. Good luck! Enjoy. 2
jpoje Posted September 28, 2023 Author Posted September 28, 2023 I will check to see if everything is up to date. My Harmony goal for now, is to figure out IF OR HOW to replace a few of my IR functions that I had set up with the old ISY99i IR. Example: when I watch a movie, press "play" on Harmony and living room lights go out, hit pause or stop, lights turn back on. I will check out the Harmony section and see what I can find out. Once again, I appreciate the assistance and information.
