Sparks
I appreciate the body of the EISY is a heatsink but what is considered the "normal" surface temperature of EISY. Mine is almost uncomfortable to pick up and a quick measure shows it at about 45C. It is only running the standard UDI packages of Insteon plus a few Poly's - nothing extra. Just concerned that running hot 24/7 will affect lifespan. Link to comment
Solution Michel Kohanim Posted October 9, 2023 Solution Share Posted October 9, 2023 Hi Sparks, Almost uncomfortable might be normal depending on what the processes are doing. When it becomes really uncomfortable, then you do need to worry. With kind regards, Michel Link to comment

elvisimprsntr
I have a MeLE 3C running Ubuntu 24/7/375 Keep in mind the finned top is actually plastic, not aluminum. Make sure it is well ventilated on all sides. root@mele-ud22:~# sensors coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Package id 0: +47.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 0: +41.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 1: +41.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 2: +41.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) Core 3: +41.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C) acpitz-acpi-0 Adapter: ACPI interface temp1: +27.8°C (crit = +119.0°C) nvme-pci-0200 Adapter: PCI adapter Composite: +39.9°C (low = -0.1°C, high = +84.8°C) (crit = +94.8°C) Sensor 1: +40.9°C (low = -273.1°C, high = +65261.8°C) Sensor 2: +46.9°C (low = -273.1°C, high = +65261.8°C) Sensor 8: +40.9°C (low = -273.1°C, high = +65261.8° Link to comment
Michel Kohanim
I use my eisy for development including the compilation of the whole OS, run eclipse, and chrome, and vscode ... although hot, it never reaches the point of not being able to touch it. As long as the top is ventilated, I wouldn't worry about it. With kind regards, Michel Link to comment
Sparks
Thanks for the feedback folks. It hasn't reached egg frying temperature so I guess running warm is normal. Link to comment
