ISY994 5.4.1 and Zwave Plus LR

Good morning all!  I have an ISY994 using 5.4.1 software.  I am trying to add a HomeSeer Door/Window Sensor DS100  that is a Zwave Plus LR device.  The HomeSeer adds to the ISY and works but has a glitch:  after sitting for over 10 seconds in the closed position it misses the nest open.   I was under the impression that 5.4.1 was totally Zwave compatible as a Zwave Plus.  I also read on the Zwave organization site that Plus LR is backwards compatible with Plus.

Has anyone experienced compatibility issues that may shed some light on this or possibly I misunderstood what I read.  Thanks very much.

The current firmware for the ISY994 is 5.3.4 and it only supports the Zwave 500 series dongle which is Zwave certified.

Which zwave dongle do you have installed?

Zwave 700/800 LR series should be backwards compatible with the ISY 500 series dongle.

@Techman, very interesting.  Wasn't aware the ISY994 supported Zwave 700 series dongle's.  Which manufacturers are compatible?

The only compatible dongles were the internal boards supplied by UDI.  They're no longer available unless you can find a used one.

NOTE: there was a typo in my previous post, since corrected. The ISY994 only supports 300 and 500 series Zwave.

Unsure how you have this on an ISY994. The last firmware for the ISY994 is as @Techman says 5.3.4. Also according to the release of that firmware:

Additionally, in the topic above you can find links to z-wave assistance that might help you.

I believe the ISY994 with 5.3.4 was only z-wave certified up to series 500 modules. I didn't run z-wave in the ISY994 so never attempted anything in that line. I seem to recall that z-wave series 700 came out after Polisy was introduced so 500 might have been the last series UD supported on the ISY994. But I didn't pay much attention to z-wave previously so never kept up with what modules were offered in the ISY994.

Opps...Looks like I messed up!  I have 5.4.3 (not 5.4.1), sorry fingers don't always work right.  Also have the 500 dongle.

I bought a HomeSeer Door/Window Switch, DS100 that is Z-Wave Plus LR in hopes of being compatible.  It adds fine but operation is weird.  After being closed for over 10 seconds it misses the first open.  Then works fine until until sitting closed for over 10 seconds , again.  By the way when it misses an open the red indicator does not blink.  If I uninstall it from the ISY, the red light always blinks for all open and closed.

Thanks all.

Still stuck on 5.4? It's 5.3.4

What LED light? Something on the ISY994 or something on the device?

It's possible it might not be compatible, but not sure. I would be sure if you delete it from the ISY994 that you're performing an exclude before including. Have you attempted to factory reset the device and attempt inclusion again?

Others that used Z-wave in the ISY994 days (or even now) would certainly be better suited to help. My experience with z-wave has been limited and honestly I don't like the system all that much so only have 4 or 5 z-wave devices -- they aren't even currently active in my system. (For specific issues that you're experiencing - unreliable!)

How many Z-wave devices do you have in your system? If just this one how close is it to your ISY994? It's possible your  z-wave network isn't strong enough for this battery operated devices to reach the ISY994 card and you would need to have it closer to the door or build out a larger z-wave mesh network.

The ISY994 Zwave dongle has an effective range of about 20 feet. If your Zwave switch is further away you should add a Zwave repeater between the ISY and your device.
