rg65 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I added a Venstar thermostat and may replace my other 2. However, the display on my laptop does not show the important things to set except in a very small scrollable window at the bottom of the screen. There are many cells showing useless items. Is there any way to get rid of the useless cells so the settings show on the screen? I have changed themes and font sizes, but the important stuff is still hidden. Thank you! Quote
Goose66 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) This is one of those "You can’t please all of the people all of the time" sort of things, I think. For those that want the runtimes, then there's no way to make it optional, I'm afraid. But I am surprised that you use the Admin Console for day to day management of your thermostats. The Admin Console is really designed for ... you know ... admin. Try UD Mobile. This should provide a better interface for making day-to-day settings on your thermostat. I don't really change them that often. At my office I leave it up most of the time so I can see the status of a certain thermostat I have to keep an eye on. I really don't want to grab my phone every time. Thank you! Quote
DennisC Posted October 3 Posted October 3 This issue is similar to displaying a plugin with a large number of nodes. If there are more nodes then fit in the window, you can not see them. Dating back to Polisy first coming out, I submitted a support ticket to UD requesting a scroll bar in the margin to move the page down. It was added to the to do list but never implemented. When eisy came out the issue was still there. I submitted another ticket and had some back and forth with UD over it. They confirmed the need for the scroll bar and said it would be added sometime in the future, but they wouldn't say when. The ticket was then closed. I waited a little over a year and submitted another ticket. Same answer, but this ticket is still being kept open at my request. UD is typically very responsive to requests, so this must be a very low hanging issue in their opinion. Maybe if they receive some additional requests........ 1 1 Quote
Goose66 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) I guess I wasn’t appreciating that there was no scroll bar for the window. Yes, that is a serious UI issue. Very surprised it has gone this long without being fixed. Also a little surprised that the Java UI libraries don’t just automatically handle it. Could it be as simple as a flag in the window creation code? If we could just get Admin Console moved to a web-based UI… maybe IoX 6? Edited October 3 by Goose66 1 Quote
Goose66 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) @Javi Is there a workaround for the missing scroll bar here? Edit: sorry, that should have been for Chris Jahn. Don’t know his handle. Edited October 3 by Goose66 Quote

rg65 Posted October 3 Author Posted October 3 Oh, there is a scroll up and down button at the very bottom beside where it says membership. IT IS VERY SMALL and you can only scroll to see 1 line at a time. Yes, it would be nice if the whole window scrolled or we just compressed the boxes some to create more screen real estate. Quote

For an example, the Weather flow plugin node can not all be seen in the admin console unless font is set extremely small. 6 hours ago, rg65 said: IT IS VERY SMALL and you can only scroll to see 1 line at a time. Yep, just not user friendly. Quote
paulbates Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I'm not sure the programming effort involved to achieve this solution, but the previous incarnation of the Venstar plugin under nodelink put the runtimes in a separate "main node" (not sure of the right term), so when you clicked it in the device tree, runtimes were there, and controls & sensors were in another "main node" which navigated around this issue. 1 Quote
