Sorry but a quick question about program status

Ok, I can't make the alarm interface work for my folders and I figured out why. Whenever any door opens in my house, it must have some impact on the ISY that causes it to re-assess all the programs that are true even if they were already true before the door was opened. Here's what I did: I left the alarm in Disarmed state. I turned on the porch lights and then opened a door then closed the door. The programs in my Alarm Armed False folder ran even though the status of that folder hadn't changed. Here's a copy of the Event viewer if someone can tell me why the alarm caused the ISY to re-evaluate and run programs in the folder that shouldn't have changed status, I would really appreciate it!

Hi mitch,

It sounds as if the program conditional for your *Alarm Disarmed is acting as a control function not a status. Here's a simple example of the two with a SWL:

Control - This will run every time the SWL is turned off regardless of the previous state. Multiple off sequences will cause the program to re-run.

If BSMT_SWL is Switched off then

Turn off basement lamplinc

Status - This will run when there is a status change in the SWL to off. Multiple OFF sequences will not re-run the program.

If BSMT_SWL is off then

Turn off basement lamplinc

Beyond that, alarm systems can be tricky. The tough situation is the *Alarmed Stay mode where you can have occupants momentarily opening doors and windows. You don't want to trigger events every time the system cycles. You may need to add some "persistence" to the inputs for this scenario.
