ThisIsTheWay Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM Posted Thursday at 09:34 PM I wanted to add an 8 button keypadlinc button to a scene with an on/off switch. Both are set as controllers in 1 scene. I was hoping that when the on/off switch is turned on/off, that the KPL button would go on/off accordingly. But when i trigger the on/off switch from the console app, the keypadLinc does not go on.off. Quote

Did you create a second scene with the on/off switch as the controller and the keypadlinc button as a responder? Quote

Techman Posted Friday at 01:00 AM Posted Friday at 01:00 AM (edited) Your scene results show that the two devices passed the scene test. When you trigger the scene from the admin console turn on the scene not a device in the scene. If you turn on the light from the switch does the KPL button light? If you press the KPL button does the light turn on? Edited Friday at 03:43 PM by Techman Quote
tazman Posted Friday at 01:54 AM Posted Friday at 01:54 AM You need to select a device in the scene then configure what happens with the other device when it is activated. Quote
GlowingHair Posted Friday at 10:05 AM Posted Friday at 10:05 AM @ThisIsTheWay Are you switching the device or the scene in the Admin Console? If it's the device, wouldn't just the device respond? If it's the scene, both the keypad button and device should respond - is that the case? 2 1 Quote

I was thinking that switching the device in the Admin Console would trigger the scene....but it does not. Physical presses of the devices does in fact work. Quote

You have to control the scene not the device from the console. Quote
Guy Lavoie Posted Friday at 03:12 PM Posted Friday at 03:12 PM So the second scene did the trick. In my naming convention (to avoid going crazy) I'll usually give the scene a name (eg: "scn kitchen") for the scene where the keypadlinc controls the light, and "scn kitchen rev" for the reverse scene that updates the keypadlinc if the light is operated directly from the switch. You didnt need a second scene for that. Quote

My issues with not understanding that scenes do not respond to switching done in the Admin Console like they do to they physical item being switched. Quote
