killervette Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Can the ISY run a program when the status of my ELK alarm changes? I want to run an action on disarm. ELK cannot run the program because i will be utilizing the ISY network module.
mitch236 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I am using the network module to run programs based on my alarm system status changes so it can be done. Can you link the status of the Elk to a program? IOW, for my setup I created an empty program called Alarm Armed Away. Then, I linked the alarm's armed away status to the program (that's the part you have to see if you can do). That way, the status of the program is true when the alarm is armed away and false when not. Then you can write any number of programs using the status of Alarm Armed Away as the If statement.
killervette Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 i guess my question is where in the ISY admin can i set that up. Or are you saying you setup a program in ELK. I am the ELK RP2 software. Is that what you are using?
killervette Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 also, the "program" that i want to run can be run simply by a webpage. I want to control my squeezebox radio. I can send a PLAY command via a html request. I just need elk to tell isy to do a get request on the url. If i add the network module, will that give me the ability to make a program in ISY to check the ELK status?
Michel Kohanim Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Killervette, Currently, the only way of doing this is to assign one of your INSTEON/X10 devices as a variable: 1. In ELK, create rules that turn on/off that device in ISY 2. In ISY, create programs that based on the status of that device, a Network Resource is activated Do you already have the Network Module? With kind regards, Michel
killervette Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 So it has to be a real insteon device....i cant my a "virtual device"? I do not have the network module yet. I was waiting to see if i could make this work before buying.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Hi killervette, Unfortunately, at the moment, it has to be a real INSTEON device. With kind regards, Michel
killervette Posted October 11, 2010 Author Posted October 11, 2010 Hi killervette, Unfortunately, at the moment, it has to be a real INSTEON device. With kind regards, Michel Has this been addressed in the 2.8.4 beta release? Do I still have to use a real insteon device?? It basically ties up a $45 device for my setup
Michel Kohanim Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hello killervette, Not yet. All this is supposed to be in the upcoming ELK module which is taking much longer than I had anticipated. With kind regards, Michel
