My Launcher shortcut wont work anymore on my lapto

My Launcher shortcut on my laptop wont work anymore. it says "the item 'javaws.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcutd wil no longer work properly.   the shortcut on my desktop computer still works.

uninstalled java and reinstalled. downloaded the launcher file, and i get a screen that says "select an app to open this .jnlp file"

@mrxmas what OS are you running on your laptop? If on Windows you just need to set what program is associated with the .jnlp file. 

Also, be sure you're just installing the "basic"/current version from java.com (currently showing as Version 8 Update 441 as of today). Don't get any different version a higher number is better. 

You want the .jnlp to open with javaws.exe (usually found in: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_441\bin) [NOTE: the jre1.8.0_441 directory is the current installed version] I'm running Windows 10. It could be in a different spot in Win11, but doubtful. Not sure about non-windows machines.

Did you run the java uninstall tool?  If not, download the uninstall tool from the java website which will completely remote it.  Then reinstall and it should configure everything.
