cksedg Posted Saturday at 06:02 AM Posted Saturday at 06:02 AM I made some adjustments last night to my ISY, but today the Iox will not launch. The UD logo comes up for a few seconds, then disappears, and nothing else happens. I can click on it over and over, or try to launch it from the programs menu, but I always get the same thing. I also deleted Java and the IoX and reloaded to try again--several times. Always the same result: The UD logo and then nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote

You don't indicate if you are on Windows or Mac, so here is the general troubleshooting pages: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page#Troubleshooting_2 Scroll through the entire section trying what is relevant. I would suggest starting with clearing State files, increasing Java memory, then clearing and reinstalling the Launcher. Be sure to click all 3 boxes when deleting Java files. Quote
cksedg Posted Saturday at 06:55 PM Author Posted Saturday at 06:55 PM I am on Windows. I just went through the troubleshooting pages again. I have tried everything I can see to do--again. I still get the same thing: The UD logo appears for a few seconds and then goes off, but it never loads the window to select my ISY. Quote
cksedg Posted Saturday at 08:16 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:16 PM I finally got it to load. On one of the forums entries I found this link, and it worked: https://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/admin.jnlp Now there is another problem--none of my programs are there! All the devices, scenes, etc. are in "Main," and my program FOLDERS are in "Programs," but no actual programs. I tried restoring from a known good backup. After selecting the file to use, I get this error message. Quote
cksedg Posted Saturday at 08:30 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:30 PM Back to where I was when I started this thread. The UD logo comes up for two seconds, then nothing.......... Quote
Geddy Posted Saturday at 08:47 PM Posted Saturday at 08:47 PM @cksedg what version of Java are you using/installing? IoX launcher is built for the standard Java installed from Java.com. Don’t get a higher/random version that isn’t found directly at Java.com and clicking on download Java option. Also turn off any firewalls and antivirus 3rd party software on your computer. What ISY device are you using? What firmware do you have installed? Lastly, try launching with the Java console enabled (I’m on a mobile device currently so cannot describe the steps to do that….try searching online for the steps). See if there are any issues when the IoX Launcher initiates. More than likely it’s your Java version since the rest seems to be normal. Also, keep in mind you can always download the start.jnlp file from the UD websire and clicking on “My ISY” on the top right. DO NOT TRY TO RESORE A BACKUP! Just be sure you get a clean start of admin console. If you get in and devices or programs don’t load check the “About” (Help -> About) screen to confirm you firmware and UI match. Fix the IoX Laucher issue first. If you still have loading issues and are on Polisy or eisy it might be time to open a support ticket - https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Quote
cksedg Posted Saturday at 10:07 PM Author Posted Saturday at 10:07 PM I am using Java 8u311. For a year or so, my computer won't let me load an upgrade. It shows a script error. I see that many people have had that error. I have tried every remedy I can find to fix it, but nothing works. It has been working fine on this version. I have deleted it and loaded it multiple times. I have ISY994i. I haven't gone to eisy yet. Firmware? How do I tell, if the launcher won't load? What could have changed overnight to make this not work? I have also downloaded the launcher directly from the UD web site. I will search to see how to launch with the Java console enabled. Thanks so much for your help! Quote
cksedg Posted Saturday at 11:20 PM Author Posted Saturday at 11:20 PM I deleted Java 8u311, and got 8u441 to load by using the CMD Prompt to install it with the /S ending (silent installation--no user interface). It loaded great. Then I got the latest IoX launcher file from Universal Devices. Still the same thing: UD logo shows for two seconds, then nothing! Over and over and over..... Quote
Techman Posted Sunday at 12:08 AM Posted Sunday at 12:08 AM @cksedg Take a look at this link Universal Devices, Inc. Wiki Quote
cksedg Posted Sunday at 12:47 AM Author Posted Sunday at 12:47 AM I have done everything on this Wiki several times. I just now took time to do it all again, making sure I paid attention in detail. Still doesn't work! Quote
cksedg Posted Sunday at 02:38 AM Author Posted Sunday at 02:38 AM I don't know if this makes any difference to a solution, but I discovered that all the instances where I try to start IoX Launcher are showing as running in the Task Manager. I either have to restart or end each task one by one. So something is still running! Quote
Techman Posted Sunday at 03:02 PM Posted Sunday at 03:02 PM The IoX Launcher should show up in the Task Managew as "Java Web Launcher", is that what your're seeing? It's also possible that you have an issue with your computer. Open the command prompt in Run as Administrator mode. Then type SFC /SCANNOW This will run the windows system file check utility and correct any errors. Quote
cksedg Posted Sunday at 05:49 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:49 PM (edited) Yes, all instances show as "Java(TM) Web Launcher" in Task Manager. My ISY994i has now stopped controlling anything. None of my programs work (lights turning on and off at sunset and sunrise, etc.), and I can't command with voice through Alexa anymore. It says, "Sorry, the hub that xxxx device is connected to is not responding." I ran the SFC/SCANNOW. The result was "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." Is it time to break out the cash to buy a new EISY? Edited Sunday at 05:52 PM by cksedg Quote
Geddy Posted Sunday at 05:58 PM Posted Sunday at 05:58 PM @cksedg what lights do you have on the front of the ISY994? Refer to the wiki for issues: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page#Front_Panel_LEDs/Lights You might also want to unplug the device, remove the micro SD card and use a soft eraser on the connections and reseat the card in the device. It’s possible the SD card needs adjustment in the device or has become corrupt. Last thing would be to remove the .state files mentioned here: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page#Admin_Console_Minimized/Invisible_and_Cannot_be_Restored Are you running any 3rd party antivirus or firewall apps? Turn them all off after trying the above. What version of Windows are you running? On the network settings be sure your home network is set to private (and not public) type. Quote
Techman Posted Sunday at 09:43 PM Posted Sunday at 09:43 PM @cksedg Remove power from the ISY then remove your SD card and clean its contacts with a soft eraser. The SD card contacts can oxidize over time which can cause various issues. Let me know if this helps 1 Quote
cksedg Posted yesterday at 03:31 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:31 AM Several times I have searched for the *.state files, and they don't appear to be there at all. I just tried again--no items in the search, so nothing to delete. I am running Windows 10 Pro, Version 10.0.19045, Build 19045. My network is indeed set to private (no public network). Removed power from ISY, removed SD card and cleaned its contacts. Replaced the card [the dumb card went between the case and the slot, so I had to take the whole ISY apart and get it out!]. Restored power. Lights behaved as the wiki said they should. No third party Anti-virus or Firewalls are installed on my computer. Still doesn't work. Thanks for your patience and help! Quote
cksedg Posted yesterday at 03:43 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:43 AM Update: I installed Java and the IoX Launcher on an old computer I have. It installed fine and immediately found my ISY! So, I know it's a computer problem with my laptop that I have run it on for years. I can't leave it on the old computer, because it's extremely slow and runs my Christmas light show. I need to get it working on my laptop again, but at least I know it's the laptop, not the ISY. Still open for suggestions! Thanks! Quote

Still open for suggestions! Thanks! I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. I use IoX Finder on two different laptops and after both finding my poISY for dozens of times successfully, either one may suddenly not find it at times. Then I have to reload my saved profile file and away it goes again. Either laptop can do this at random and I have never established a cause or reason for the random failure about once per two months. Quote
cksedg Posted yesterday at 06:09 AM Author Posted yesterday at 06:09 AM That's interesting. I have never had it fail until the past few days. How do you reload your saved profile file? How do I save it in the future, so I can fix it? Quote

cksedg Posted 4 minutes ago Author Posted 4 minutes ago Thanks for all of your help, larryllix! For some reason, the crazy thing started working on my laptop today. I can't believe it. I didn't change anything, and there it was---loaded fine. I hope it stays working........... I really appreciate all the concern you and others had for my problem. Have a great Spring. Quote
