tome Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago I have a 2852-222 leak sensor that has been working for many years. I replaced the battery a couple months ago with a Lithium AA battery. A week ago it missed heartbeats for a couple days. I went and checked, and the battery is good. I put it back in it's place figuring removing the battery would reset any issue. It didn't, still missing heartbeat every day. I went and got it today to test it. When I view it in the ISY it shows Wet Off/Dry On as it should, and Heartbeat is On. If I set it on a wet paper towel it shows Wet On/Dry Off. So it appears to be working. Is there a way to test the heartbeat? I was planning to leave it upstairs with me for a day or two and see it resolves, but not sure why it is suddenly missing hearbeat...? Also, I have wondered for a while, what are people using for Leak Sensors these days? Should I be looking for a different solution, wifi ones, or what? I don't have a ton of Insteon devices but I have enough that I should be thinking of a migration strategy to something that is supported, but havent been following the state of the art in home automation for quite a few years now... Any advice is appreciated. -Tom Quote
paulbates Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago My experience with Insteon sensor, battery only devices, especially after long periods of use, is to factory reset them, right-click in iox and pick "restore device". Doesn't always work but easy to try and frequently fixes it 1 Quote

Is factory reset different or the same as Restore Device? -Tom Quote
tome Posted 21 hours ago Author Posted 21 hours ago I suspect you are saying I should do a factory reset on the device first (remove battery, hold set button, install battery) and THEN "restore device"? Also, I noticed in the Program Summary that my other working leak sensors show "Running Then" in the Activity field for the Variable Control 2 program and have a Next Scheduled Run set for tomorrow for the Variable Control 3 program, whereas this (not working) sensor doesn't show "Running Then" or have a Next Scheduled Run time set... -Tom Quote
paulbates Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Yes.. factory reset then restore device. It also must be in linking mode first. The "running then" is normal for the typical battery monitoring programs Quote

Now the programs for this misbehaving leak sensor are also showing "Running Then" and a Next Scheduled Run time as well. So hopefully it is back in sync. Thanks for your help, -Tom Quote
auger66 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago (edited) A few years ago, I needed to replace several old Insteon leak sensors. I almost bought six but ended up transitioning to YoLink. I've been very happy with them, and the YoLink plugin for the eisy. YoLink operates fine separately without the plugin if you're still running an ISY. I got a couple of YoLink valve controllers and a temp sensor later. Everything works great. Edited 16 hours ago by auger66 1 Quote
Techman Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago @tome If you're still having issues with your heartbeat program, then post a screenshot of the program. Quote

Only a few months with them, but they seem to work well. I have some other YoLink temp/humidity sensors that I've been using for longer and they really operate good with the eisy + plugin. Since you posted in the ISY994 area it's not a product you would be able to integrate into the ISY as it does require the plugin to bring into the IoX/ISY system. Outside of the ISY I do like the YoLink app (it's basic) and expect that with their hub and app you would be able to monitor for and be notified of leaks easily. The range on the YoLink devices is fantastic. I expect battery life to be great as I have been able to get ~18 +/-months on the temp/humidity sensors. Quote
