II it possible to setup Ecobee in UDI if I don't have any Apple devices. I have setup Homekit node but I am still confused.

I will defer your core question to @Jimbo.Automates, but I think the answer is yes. If you installed the new HomeKit Plugin in EISY PG3, it will act has the HomeKit Hub without any Apple devices.

I highly suggest you throughly read all the Configuration instructions that come with these plugins. With both Plugins, go to either the eisy-ui Production Store or the eisy-ui Non-Production Store, find the plugin of interest and click on the button for that plugin and within that buy/trial/install panel you will see a 'More Info" button and you can read about the plugins before installing. If you already installed the plugin, then once installed (Trial or Purchase) go to the eisy-ui Dashboard, click on the plugin of interest and then click on "Configuration" tab and again Jimbo.Automates has really good instructions on all the setup process/options... all worth reading (in my case I read it many times).

HOMEKIT... The eisy-ui PG3 Plugin Production Store has the $30 purchase version for HomeKit. However, if you want to evaluate first, the Trial Version (one month trial) of the same HomeKit is still available in the PG3 Plugin Non-Production Store... always good to try before you buy. In my experiments with this plugin I did not have to modify any of the configuration settings and the HomeKit hub showed up in the EISY Admin Console and you will be able to see that it is connected if all is OK... still, READ the configuration instructions.

ECOBEE... Install the HomeKit Plugin first, then install the Ecobee plugin Version 4.1.3. Again, If you need to test how things work first, the trial version is still available in the eisy-ui PG3 Plugin Non-Production Store. the Production Store has the $30 purchase for the same version. The trial versions are great to test everything out.

Once the Version 4.1.3 Ecobee version is installed (Trial or Purchase) READ the default Configuration Settings in the configuration panel of the Ecobee Plugin in the PG3 Dashboard. During the configuration of the Ecobee Plugin... if the Ecobee is still PAIRED with any Apple Hub, you will have to unpair the thermostat before proceeding... see the Prerequisites Section In the Configuration Tab. I believe everything is covered well in the guidance instructions that are found in the Configuration panel for that Plugin in the Dashboard. the default settings should allow the Ecobee Plugin to function as intended, just check the Ecobee configuration quick-start instructions.

@ISY4Me is correct, there is no need to have any apple devies. HomeKit plugin acts as a homekit hub so you can connect the Ecobee to it.

@Jimbo.Automates I have the Homekit plugin production version purchased and installed. No Apple Home hub (ever) in the house. Previous cloud Ecobee plugin deleted. Homekit plugin started (but still showing "current status disconnected" ??) On the Ecobee go to "settings" -> "Enable Homekit pairing", get the screen w/ 8 digit numeric code above a QR code . On the Homekit plugin hit the "Discover" button, then open "Configuration"->"Custom typed configuration parameters" No rows or new rows appear even after hitting "refresh" several times as well as "discover" then "refresh" repeatedly. What am I missing or doing wrong, please?

When you say "current status disconnected" what is that? "NodeServer Online", "Bridge Status", "MQTT Transport" ? I created this guide, see if it helps:

@Jimbo.Automates Thanks for the troubleshooting guide. I think my problem is that the HomeKit Hub plugin (I do have this plugin , not the HomeKit Bridge) is not installed or functioning correctly. The “current status: disconnected” is for the plugin. When I go to the plugin store and click on HomeKit Hub the “available purchase/install option” shows “activate” but clicking on this I get “ you do not have a valid license for this version of HomeKit Hub. Please click on the purchase button below”. Clicking on this I get “No purchase options available” on the UD portal page. I did purchase the plugin earlier today. The Plug-ins Purchase page on eisy shows that I purchased the plugin on 6/28/26 at 17:00:57. It seems like something went wrong with the purchase or license assignment. Is this something to open a ticket with UD Support about?

Sorry, yes that is something you'll have to open a support ticket to have looked at.

I have installed the HomeKit plugin and I have successfully paired my Honeywell T10 thermostat to it. When I try to set up some programming of the thermostat in the AC, the only options in Homekit/thermostat are pair and repair. Is there any way I can access the thermostat functions?

The Homekit plugin on its own doesn't manage any devices. It requires another node server to manage the device. If you download log package from the plugin and email it to me I could take a look but no promises. jimbo.automates@gmail.com

Upgrade Packages (June 1, 2026 release): Hub builds from that release onward require the Python package aiomqtt (listed in requirements.txt). If you last ran Upgrade Packages before June 1, 2026, startup often fails with ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'aiomqtt' in logs/debug.log. In IoX, run Upgrade Packages, wait for install to finish, then Re-Install the Plugin.

The upgrade packages was the missing piece for me. I also pulled the power on the Ecobee and let it reboot. Following these 2 steps and re-installing the Homekit plugin I as able to get things to work.

Same for me: Running system: upgrade and reinstalling all the plugins - then the Homekit Hub plugin showed status connected and all the nodes & custom parameters listed in the config guides were present. Pairing the Ecobee thermostat and the plugin went quickly, as did getting the Ecobee plugin talking to the Homekit Hub plugin. Glad to find out that it wasn't just something I was doing wrong. Good job and thanks @Jimbo.Automates It looks like it was complicated to get all the parts talking to each other.

Does this Plug-in install into PG3x or PG3? Every time I see the Home screen it shows me random versions, so I am not sure if this is a problem or why there are two versions showing up. I have been reading github files for hours but nothing seems to work or apply.

I have been trying to re-install, and restart the HomeKitHub many times and no ecobee stat shows up in a list. I have never seen a list, empty or otherwise.

My ecobee shows a small QR code with an 8 digit number but no connection has ever been made, to my knowledge.

HomeKitHub only ever shows CURRENT STATUS: "Disconnectd" in red. I is not clear where it is not connected, ISY or the Stat.

Did you follow the quick start instructions? You have to enter that code in the Homekit hub config as instructed.

Thanks but that takes me around in circles again. I cannot Discover anything. Reading the github webpages referes me to other github pages that refer me to more github xxx.MD pages.

I am lost. HomeKitHub node always shows "NOT CONNECTED"

I have tried about 5 different ecobee PINS now but I am not finding any title for the PIN. I have been using "hap_pin"

It's a few steps, can you describe which you have done and where the problem is? Make sure to reload the config page as mentioned in #5 (thats a PG3 issue I can't control) and lok under Custom Typed Configuration Parameters for your ecobee.

Quick pairing (DISCOVER)

1. Add HomeKit Hub from the PG3 store and start the Node Server.

2. Put the accessory in HomeKit pairing mode (see vendor docs). Confirm it is unpaired from Apple Home and other controllers.

3. IoT / separate VLAN (optional): only when accessories are not on the Polisy primary LAN — see Discovery networks (setup) below. Skip on typical single-LAN installs.

4. On the HomeKit Hub controller node, run DISCOVER. Read Notices on the Node Server Configuration page (Custom section): HomeKit discover includes scan results and a Zeroconf / hub diagnostic summary when the new build is installed.

5. Open Configuration → Custom Typed Configuration Parameters → HomeKit pairing slots. Reload the Configuration page in your browser if the new row does not appear yet (the table refresh button alone may not be enough).

6. Find the row for your device (id and name are filled in by DISCOVER). In HomeKit pairing code (hap_pin), enter the 8-digit code currently shown on the accessory while it is in pairing mode (12345678 or 123-45-678 — either format works). Save.

7. Wait for pairing to finish. A Paired HomeKit device child node should appear; ST should show paired/connected. Check PG3 Notices or logs/debug.log if pairing fails.

Order matters: run DISCOVER before entering hap_pin so id/name are prefilled. If you already typed a PIN, clear it, run DISCOVER with the device in pairing mode, then re-enter the current code.

1,2 done, 3 skipped. 4 results in no feedback whatsoever. Am I missing something?

Does the system jumping back and forth from PG3x to PG3 matter? I get a page wanting me to migrate to PG3 or back.

Also, how would I tell if my ecobee is already paired to something? I have no Apple devices.

Log always shows this file missing despite many UPGRADE PACKAGES completed.

This is the new plugin interface which I've not tried yet. It looks like there is a problem since it says no configuration parameters. Download the log and PM it to me and link to this thread, I'll try to review during the week.
