After I did a package update hoping that would fix the issue I am having with changing parameters on a newly added Zooz ZEN 16 800LR none of the mp3 audio files would play. They would play according to the AP but there was no sound. The tts files still work fine. I tried loading a new mp3 audio file but the results are the same.

If your're using Bluetooth make sure the output of the Audio Player is set to Bluetooth and not Speaker Jack

I always use the AP with speaker jack. Oddly after the package update none of the recorded mp3 files would play even the default mp3 files. The tts files all worked fine. After deleting and reinstalling the AP plugin the included sound files still would not play. Added tts files played fine. Very odd.

After deleting and re-installing the audio player it still can't play the included audio files. They play according to the AP but produce no sound. The same is true if a custom sound file it loaded but, I was able to get the custom file to play by adding _t at the end of the title like what is done with the tts files. This all started after the latest package upgrade.

Problem solved with the release of IoX version 6.1.1.

Cant seem to get any of the built in sounds to play. Am on all the latest packages. Any advice?

After more research, I see that Alexa dots can be difficult to pair with. It wants to be the source, not the speaker.

It does show up though on the EISY and I can pair to it, but nothing.

Trouble shooting through GROK, conclusion is: If the phone test works, the Dot can be a speaker. The eisy plugin is the weak link: it scans for simple speakers, not dual-role Echo devices, and often never exposes A2DP sink.

Dot works fine as a speaker with iPhone.

I am able to successfully connect eisy to a jbflip speaker, so it's clearly a handshake / understanding roles issue between the eisy and the dot.

The reason I am looking to make this work is that I am trying to have the eisy make announcement or play music across my all home sound system. I currently have a dot as a source into the system, as well as the elk into the PA.

Seems like I will have to stay with what I am doing today:

1) ELK announcements via EISY

2) Music as dinner via Alexa command: turn on dinner where eisy manages the lights and turning on the sound system and Alexa turns on the music selection and sends it to the dot feeding hte sound system.

I might suggest using a mic mixer into the Russound's pa input and connecting the Elk and eisy to the mic mixer. That way they could both page through the Rossound. Don't know if this what you may be looking for or not.

Thanks. That would be a great solution. I am not familiar a mic mixer, but will look into it. However, I am unable to get the eisy to bluetooth to the Alexa, so it would have to be a hard wire, and they are two floors apart. Not sure I have a spare connection I can use yet. May have an ethernet cable that is unused that I can adapt to. Project for the next rainy day!

For a mic mixer I could suggest the eurorack ub802 or similar. The ub802 is very flexible in controlling the audio and is what I used in a similar setup with Russound.
