Longtime isy/eisy user, NOOB to eisy-ui - Need help

Featured Replies

Ok, so apparently, I'm not understanding how to edit Programs and/or add new devices, etc. to my configuration using eisy-ui. With the recent announcement that the Admin Console & Java are going away I need to figure out eisy-ui. I've tried in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome browsers.

My first request to Universal Devices - PLEASE update the eisy-ui documentation to provide a step-by-step procedure on how to add devices (node members) and add/update programs.

I "think" I have edit enabled

Node Header icons

but I'm not sure what this allows me to edit. It doesn't appear to allow me to change anything (node name, move the device to a different folder, etc). If I click the '+' icon, all I'm allowed to do is create a new folder or group - not add a new node.

I can see my Programs, but I'm unable to change the name, add/remove programs, change if/then/else statements, etc. For example:

There are no 3 menu "dots", gear etc... to allow me to edit anything. Double clicking or right clicking anywhere does not seem to have any effect.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

So... for example:

If you look at my scene above. Are you saying there's no way to change from "Time is Sunset - 29 minutes" to "Time is Sunset - 13 minutes" in the program If statement?

Right clicking, left clicking, dragging the box - all do nothing. I have to be missing something, somewhere...

Please upgrade to the latest firmware.

Thanks Javi! Updating firmware fixed the issue.

I had assumed that since the display looked like the following that it was up to date. Obviously not. Once I clicked on Upgrade Packages it found the "new" packages and upgraded.

Thanks again Javi!

Adding nodes is not yet available, but this is coming soon.

The current production eisy-ui (1.2.2) does not have the capability to add nodes.

The beta release (1.3.4) does and supports insteon, ZWave, Zigbee, Matter and also through plugins.

I see the ability to add nodes on the menu of version 1.3.4. Trying to add zwave results in an error for me, and locks the screen. The same thing happens when I try Insteon "start linking". I have not tried zigbee or matter.

Was eisy restarted after the upgrade?

We're all noobs when it comes to eisy-ui, and some changes in terminology are going to add more time in learning it. If you have two screens on your computer, I find it useful to have admin console on one screen and eisy-ui on the other, and then compare the look of something (node, program, etc) side by side to see how your familiar features now appear. I'm presently doing this on one of my test Polisys, to teach my old brain new tricks.

It's the little things you notice and learn to appreciate. For example the node list in admin console only shows you node names. In eisy-ui you also get it's address and basic status, which is handy. Then you notice that pending changes appear as a red dot, etc. The idea is to breed familiarity, a bit at a time.

I don't recall being prompted for this. I got an initial warning that an upgrade was in process and that I should not restart. I don't believe I restarted it, and wanted to be sure that I did not do so in the middle of an upgrade process.

Edit. After I returned home, I restarted, and all looks like it works.
