Hello all,

Since we added support for iMeter Solo and fixed a few minor bugs, we are not going to release and official version as of yet. Please note that this release has been thoroughly tested and is quite stable.

Please do be kind enough to :

1. Test iMeter Solo functionality

2. Test SynchroLinc functionality

3. Test stability and observe any type of network anomaly

4. Checkout UI enhancements and fixes

For a list of changes, please take a look at this post:

http://forum.universal-devices.com/view ... =6475#6475

Notes:

1. ISY-26 is no longer included in the firmware builds

2. Due to the sensitive nature of supporting MorningLinc, users now must agree to terms and conditions upon Admin Console start up otherwise the dialog keeps popping up every time the Admin Console is started

Instructions:

1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY)

2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip

ISY 99i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.10.zip

OR 992i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.10.zip

OR 994i Series: http://www.universal-devices.com/update ... 2.8.10.zip

3. Important

Due to invalid Java certificate chain in releases 2.8.5 and above, please make sure to remove all Universal Devices certificates from Java:

a. Close all browser sessions

b. Open Java Control Panel (Java Preferences on MAC)

c. Click on the Security tab. Remove all Universal Devices certificates (on MAC, click on the '-' button at the bottom)

e. Clear your Java Cache ( http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache

)

f. Go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.10/admin.jnlp

4. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system]

5. Choose the file saved in step 2

MAC users: if upgrade fails, please add https://your.isy.ip.address to ISY Finder (see 3e above)

6. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... Java_Cache

7. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console:

a. http://isy/admin - applet (Windows only)

b. http://isy/admin.jnlp - Java application (Windows only)

c. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin - applet

d. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application

e. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.10 - applet

f. http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.10/admin.jnlp - Java application

8. IMPORTANT If you have already installed a self signed certificate and your current firmware is 2.7.10 and below, you must reinstall a new one:

http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... rtificates

Thanks and with kind regards,

Michel

My first attempt failed.

Your server chopped off the end of the update files.

The files properties showed about 1.9Mb file size.

Second download was 3.19Mb in size.

I would recommend that anyone downloading the files. Check its size before trying the update.

Also for long time users that have done updates before. Follow the added step of the Java Certificates. This is a new step.

The System Ready/Busy flag in the lower left corner changes back to Green even if the system is still busy. If the Busy progress bar on the screen hits 100% and has to start at 0% again. The Busy indication is still there just a Green flag not Yellow.

I will try it with a SynchroLinc if it ever ships. Seems the never ending slipping ship date is now 01/14/2011 :(

I did the upgrade, no problem with the download.

I followed the 8 steps then tested a few scenes and programs.

No issue so far.

I've tried all the steps above multiple times and downloaded the .zip twice since it was very small the first time and my system still says it's at UD99 V2.8.8, ISY 99i (1020) -Open Auto DR (21010). The update completes and the system restarts.

However, my Java certificate says 2.8.10.

Running on Mac OS X 10.6.5

Any thoughts...?

Upgraded from 2.8.9 to 2.8.10 twice, with a different 2.8.10 download image each time. Both updates worked as expected. Deleted the Certificates as instructed (thanks Brian!) and cleared Java Cache after each update.

Ran Restore Devices for reasons having nothing to do with the 2.8.10 update. Worked perfectly.

Only minor problem is the About says 2.8.9 after both updates, each with a different download image.

Hi MatthewInOk ... please send us an email (support@Universal-devices.com) and we'll try to figure out what's causing the error.

Hi LeeG, your system has not been upgraded to 2.8.10. Can you please go to Java | Security | Certificates and let me know how many certificates you see for Universal Devices AND please click on each and check the Validity property.

Thanks in advance and with kind regards,

Michel

There were two Certificates before doing first 2.8.10 update. I deleted both before doing first 2.8.10 update. When the About showed 2.8.9 after update I downloaded again into a different subdirectory and did another update. Both downloaded images look full size, 3.19 at download. File size on XP shows 3,270K for both images. The Java Cache was cleared after each 2.8.10 update.

There is now one Certificate with the following Validity property ....

The update does appear not to have worked as the Telnet information is from an older build. I'll download a third time.

MY MISTAKE

Thanks again Brian!

I did not run the 2.8.10 Admin Console to invoke the Manual Update option. Updated using an image I had already downloaded and it now shows 2.8.10. I did delete the Certificate again before invoking the 2.8.10 Admin Console (PER INSTRUCTIONS which I DID NOT FOLLOW).

Michel Sorry to have wasted your time on a USER ERROR. .

I used the applet tonight to open the program.

The last known state was blank.

Then Java popped up with a security warning and wanted to block the applet.

I may try the clear cache thing again and then download the applet fresh.

My upgrade went through fine. I even copied the directions to MS word so as to keep the instructions up with browser closed.

The only odd thing was that after the upgrade, it indicated a device needed a write even though no changes were made to it. When I tried to activate the write nothing happened. I logged off, then back on a couple times before it would actually do the write. Then it quit doing the write (according to the progress bars), but still had the "writing" tag next to the device. Finally it went away. I am thinking that perhaps it was doing the writes in the background even though the "ready" flag was up and no progress bars existed.

It is working fine now.

read this post 5 times and still not getting it to work so i must be missing something obvious.

Upgraded from .4 to .10 - killed the cache, certificates (2 of them) and ran the upgrade. cleaned the cache and certificates again. Recieved

XML Parse Error http://0.0.0.0:59224/0/d.xml

and

Socket Open Failed java.net.ConnectExceptions: Connection refused: no futher information.

performed a hard power cycle on the ISY.

was able to log in however version number still said 2.8.4 but the graphics and layout were changed.

downloaded .10 again and attempted another updgrade.

File size error, upgrade was unsuccessful.

soft reboot of the ISY and downloaded the upgrade file a third time.

back to XML and Socket errors mentioned above.

feel a bit like an idiot here and completely out of ideas.

I just tried that URL and it brought up the 2.8.10 Admin Console from the USI server. Takes a bit to come up since the entire Admin Console has to move over the internet but it does come up. Sounds like a DNS issue or maybe firewall issue. The URL is valid. Two attempts to update from 2.8.9 to 2.8.10 were unsuccessful until I used the URL to bring up the Admin Console before doing the Manual Update.

Anyone else having trouble with a V2 thermostat adapter since this update? 2.8.10 went on just fine, but there is a '101001' icon next to the thermostat entries. It seems to be receiving feedback from the thermostat adapter since the correct temperature and setbacks are shown in ISY, I just cannot adjust them, it says 'request failed'. All other insteon devices are working normally.

I had a similar issue when updating to 2.8.9, but it corrected itself mysteriously.

Thanks for the try LeeG but no DNS or firewall changes, just the upgrade. Cant bring up teh console to revert to my backup and the Error light is now flashing on the ISY so i fear i really mucky up the box.

Michel, i may need your help untwisting this thing.
