bocaray Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 I keep getting errors that ISY cannot communicate with my 2441V Thermostat. Once I reestablish communication (re-linking) it will work fine for several days then loose communications again. How can I troubleshoot this problem to find the source and correct it? I need some help on this. I am a frequent traveler and can't have this problem reoccurring so often. Does anyone have any help to offer?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hello bocaray, This is a known issue and SmartHome is looking into it: http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=5789 With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 Any idea when a solution might be found?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Hi, Unfortunately not ... sorry. With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 FYI - Spoke to SmartHome and they say the problem is not with every unit so they are shipping me a replacement. They have no way of determining if the new one will have tha same issue, but they say the majority of them do not show the problem.
oskrypuch Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 All three of mine are affected, but I seem to see it only once a month or so. Last time, all three were affected simultaneously. * Orest
bocaray Posted March 15, 2011 Author Posted March 15, 2011 Replacement they sent me (V2.1) seems to be working fine after several days.
bocaray Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 My set temperatures are NOT in "F" ??? they are in some other format (NOT C). 76F seems to relate to 18. Any ideas as to what this is? Any fixes???
Michel Kohanim Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Hello bocaray, Is this a question for UDI? If so, I do not know the answer since we have not yet received the thermostat. With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 I would think it is for UDI. When I first link the thermostat and get my first readings, the current temp from the ISY-99 is displayed as "76" degrees and matches the thermostat display. However, the "Set Temp" says "18" degrees! (Very strange). I then closed the Admin app and reopened it to find the "Set Temp" now displaying "76" degrees not "18". It now seems to be working correctly but the initial linking was very strange. I will let you know if I encounter any more issues. Also, each time I open the Admin app, I MUST query the thermostat in order to get the current reading. Is this how it was designed to function? Thanks
Michel Kohanim Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Hello bocaray, Is this one of the beta thermostats? No, you should never have to query your V2 thermostats and the status should be accurate on the Admin Console. With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 No not a beta. I just tried it again and it updates after I query it. The communication is fine. Any ideas why I need to query it to get the current stats???
bocaray Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Also, I paid to have the humidity sensor but the Admin app does not give me any options to set the humidity range. Was this not in the SW?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 bocaray, How many nodes do you have for each of your thermostats? If your thermostat is NOT v2, then you will have to query it to get the updated status. V2 thermostats have 4 nodes in the tree on the left. I am not sure what you mean by humidity range. You can use the humidty value (if reported corretly) in your programs. With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 There is only 1 node. (???) I am sure they sent me version 2. Do i need to re-install it?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hello bocaray, Yes, please: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... rmostat_V2 With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Ok, unfortunately I am away for the next 2 weeks and it looks like I will need to hit the link setup button. So, I will have to wait until I am back to perform this since it can not be done remotely. Sorry, I promise to get back to you asap. Thanks

bocaray Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Michel, If the single node that is now being displayed (before I re-link it) says "v0.0" at the top, does this mean it may not be Version 2?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hello bocaray, No, it does not. Make sure you either use Auto Discover in New INSTEON Device dialog or use Start Linking. It seems that you chose the thermostat from the list instead of letting ISY figure out what type of device it is. With kind regards, Michel
bocaray Posted May 18, 2011 Author Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks Michel, I'll give this a try as soon as I can.
deemisk Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I guess we all have the same issues, I don't have to ask, just reading some off the steps of how to solve a problem and follow your instruction will do the trick Thank you.

bocaray Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 Finally got home. Reinstalled per instructions and now have the 4 nodes. Let's ee if it stays connected. The instructions talk about using an "every 15 minute query" of the Thermostat. Should this program be used as a standard practice?
