kcrossley Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Apparently, last night my ISY-26 went crazy and decided to turn on a whole bunch of lights randomly. We discovered it this morning. This has never happened before. It's about 4-years old. Could it be reaching it's end-of-life? Are there any diagnostics I can run to see if it's functioning properly. Thanks, Kelly
fitzpatri8 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 How did you determine the ISY's role vs. power line noise, short outage & surge or accidentally pressed "all on" button? Did you perform a factory reset on the devices prior to installation or did you intentionally program an x10 address into them? How many of your neighbors are using x10 gear? Obviously my sample size is smaller than Universal Devices', but all the unintended on issues I've worked with ended up being related to x10 signals one way or another--either a neighbor on the same house code or power line noise that looked to installed devices like a valid x10 command. I've never seen an ISY do that on its own.

kcrossley Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 By the way the floodlights indicated in the log are fluorescent and can only be on or off (0 or 100%), but the log shows 88% which isn't even possible.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Hello kcrossley, Do you have ELK? Also, as far as 88%, in all likelihood the device to which the floodlights are connected is a dimmer and not a relay. With kind regards, Michel

The switch is an 8-button KeypadLinc Dimmer, but the floodlights are connected to Smarthome In-LineLincs (Non-Dimming). What is an ELK? Any insight on to why this happened? Do you think I should reset the ISY-26? Thanks, Kelly
Michel Kohanim Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Hi Kelly, I do not think you need to reset ISY. If this random problem has not happened since, then I would just let it run as is. If it happens again, then we would want to see what characteristics the other occurrence has with the previous one. Currently, I think the problem is a faulty switch especially if you have KPLs version 2A or 2D. ELK is a security system brand. With kind regards, Michel
