Hello mohansen,

Thanks so very much for the log. I noticed a lot of DNS error but I am not sure why that would cause a system hang. I do not think it's ELK related. I sent you an email with more questions. Again, sincere apologies for this problem.

Hi polexian,

Unfortunately not.

With kind regards,

So far 3.1.6 has been a very reliable.

I am receiving far fewer Wbug errors and email notifications have been solid.

I do see the -11022 errors below, pretty much every day.

Any suggestions on those?

Thanks.......

Since upgrading, my time zone reset to California with no daylight savings time, and I have the following errors from my error log (duplicates removed).

Fri 2011/08/19 09:56:23 AM	System	-100002	/LOG/A.LOG
Fri 2011/08/19 10:00:23 AM	System	-110014	/CONF/42F95.REC
Fri 2011/08/19 10:00:36 AM	System	-100002	/LOG/A.LOG
Fri 2011/08/19 10:00:36 AM	System	-110007	0
Fri 2011/08/19 10:04:58 AM	System	-5	Start

I already reset the time, but haven't done anything with the file errors yet.

I upgraded from 3.1.3 to 3.1.6 today and now email going through GoDaddy.com's smtpout.secureserver.net will not work. I had to switch back to smtp.comcast.net.

No matter what port I specify, 25, 80 or 3535 as listed on GoDaddy, they all give the same results when I do a test:

[ Unsupported authentication method ]

I have a SMTP Diagnostic program I run that shows the actual data and sends an email and it works fine. So I have to think something changed between 3.1.3 and 3.1.6 that is does not like something that the smtpout.secureserver.net send back.

I did the upgrade to 3.1.6 and all seemed to go fine until two days later I realized that my notifications were no longer working. I checked things out that night to see why and found several problems. Notifications not working, some items not showing status so because of that certain programs not working properly, time zone messed up, not all my items are showing up in main menu, and at login to admin all my battery operated items are not seen and I have to click OK to each one. I decided to go back to 3.15 since that was working perfectly for a long time. I should learn from past problems to leave things alone if they are working. I first restored to back to 3.1.5 then used my backup from 3.1.5 to restore. Things were still screwed up so I reset the ISY then tried the same again by loading 3.1.5 then my backup from 3.1.5 and still having same problems. I am giving up and finally realizing that this thing is becoming too much trouble. I do not have time to be constantly reprogramming everything. I hate to have a PC on all the time to do my Home Automation but I think I may just have to go to a software solution. Anyone else running into same problems? I HAVE GIVEN UP! Do not have time for this.

Was the URL to access the Admin Console changed to point to the 3.1.6 Admin Console code that is in sync with the ISY 3.1.6 firmware?

If you want a 'set it and forget it' system, why are you upgrading to the latest betas? The official release is 2.8.16.

If you stick to the official releases you will have no problem with your isy. It's a very complex system and when new things are added sometimes Affects other portions of the code. I hope you stick around with the officials and love the product like it is supposed to be loved!

I believe there is some bug in the 3.1.6 backup process. See this thread I started as a separate topic since I wasn't sure where the problem was at first.

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=6807

After H2R reported a similar problem as I was having, I went back to a 3.1.5 backup I had and after that restore, everything was fine.

Hello all,

With sincere apologies:

Backups using 3.1.6 are corrupted. Please do ensure you keep older backups and also that you do NOT restore 3.1.6 backups on your ISYs.

3.1.7 should be out shortly.

With kind regards,

Michel

After I updated from 3.1.5 my notifications began working again. But I'm noticing the time I receive the notification can sometimes be more than a hour from when the event was registered in the ISY Programs/Summary tab. For example, my arrival time today was 9:55:40 AM.

But the time on my cell phone message (the actual time the message buzzed me) was 10:39 AM. The time on my email message for the same event was 5:38 PM but it came in around 10:39 AM.

Occasionally, I've noticed messages don't come at all. Today I left the house (away mode) at 8:00:45 AM and neither my phone or email notification came through at all.

So just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or could my notification configuration be off?

Hi Michel,

I installed 3.1.6 as soon as it came out and I haven't had any recurrences of the Elk crash issue since. :)

I've been installing new devices and I just read about the backup issue with 3.1.6. Do you have an estimate on when 3.1.7 may arrive? Just wondering if I should hold off on some of my new installs. Also, just out of curiosity, any new goodies planned for 3.1.7? What can I say...I'm a geek and I get excited about things like this! :)

Also, I noticed your post on the elk thread mentioning that the elk module is getting close. Any eta on that? Will it be in beta form when released? Again, let me repeat, I'm a geek so please forgive my eagerness. :))

Michel, Will this affect upgrades as well? IOW, do we need to restore to 3.1.5 before we upgrade to 3.1.7?

Hello all, I hope you do not mind but this will be a collective response!

Mr. Allen,

Would you be kind enough to send me the trace/traffic? Or, do you know which authentication method that server requires? I am hoping to have this fixed by 3.1.7.

sanders2222

This is quite odd. Are you certain there are NO "Wait" statements in your programs?

bcall

We are hoping to have 3.1.7 out by this coming weekend. I do recommend holding off since backups using 3.1.6 will be corrupted and basically useless.

3.1.7 will basically be a maintenance release to address some of the bugs introduced in 3.1.5 and 3.1.6 ... plus support for additional devices.

ELK module will come out as Beta!

ryarber

No, the backup bug has no impact whatsoever on upgrading firmware.

Michel

Hi Robert,

We are so close in releasing the ELK module that it would not make sense to spend time on providing this variable. This said, if we run into delays, then yes, absolutely.

polexian,

I do not think ELK module will be in 3.1.7 since 3.1.7 is mainly to fix other bugs introduced in 3.1.5/6.

Here is the output from a program called SMTP Diagnostics. If needed I can run test from ISY and capture with wireshark, but I think this will show what the GoDaddy server is sending. And to clarify, I had GoDaddy working when using 3.1.3, but it will not work no matter what options or TCP port I use. On all example below I have changed the real domain to ADDRESS.com.

This is using Comcast which does NOT require a login sequence.

Some things I notice that are different are all of Comcast 250 replies have 250-******* except for the last one that has 250 OK, no dash after the 250. On the GoDaddy one the last 250 does not have dash between the 250 and PIPLINGING and there is no 250 OK.

If you need more information let me know and if I should email it directly instead of posing it here. I can also set up and email account you can test with in my GoDaddy account if that would help.

Robert,

I think the problem is the HTTPS port number for your ISY. Would you please remove ELK configuration from ISY and try https to ISY again and let me know what happens?

Mr. Allen,

Thanks so very much! This helps a lot ... the only thing I do not understand is that we do support both Auth Login and Auth Login Plain (as do the servers you have listed). If it's not too much trouble, would you be kind enough to email wireshark traffic between your ISY and the server. Please use a different account and/or remove your credentials. My email address is tech@universal-devices.com .

Thanks so very much and with kind regards,

Michel
