Posted September 2, 201114 yr Just saw the new remotelinc2 on smarthome web. Will isy automatically Support it, meaning to isy it will just look like a remotelinc1 in different enclosure?
September 3, 201114 yr Hello jkraus, No, it does not. It's on our plate of things to do right after ELK. With kind regards, Michel
September 3, 201114 yr Author Thanks mitchel. I have been so excited about a remotelinc upgrade I ordered two immediatly. The scheduled delivery Is end of Sept. Do you expect an isy upgrade to handle them By then?
September 3, 201114 yr I have been so excited about a remotelinc upgrade I ordered two immediatly." Ditto! I've been planning on getting my front gate on an IOlinc for a bit...one look at the RemoteLinc2 and I bet my gate is now done by Monday and my foot wont stop tapping until the remotes show up in my mailbox.
September 3, 201114 yr Same here! I actually planned to order two of the RemoteLinc 2 immediately, now I will wait. Question is just - how long? The answer to this would actually also give an indication to when the module for ELK will be available - another "sure buy" for me! Jodok
September 4, 201114 yr Hello all, I am quite wary of giving ETAs simply because we have not been able to meet our own expectations vis-a-vis ELK. On top of that, we have to make sure that we have a stable system again. I am hoping 3.1.7 to be out this week, then ELK, and then support for additional INSTEON devices. With kind regards, Michel
September 13, 201114 yr Author Looks like SH is shipping quite early. Despite thier web claim for Sept 30th, I have notice that the two I ordered have been shipped. Is there anything I can do to check out these puppies before officail isy support or do you recommend I just wait? Thanks much! Joe
September 13, 201114 yr Hi Joe, Please just wait! Obviously you can link them to your devices but please note that any device restore will get rid of those links since ISY does not know they exist. With kind regards, Michel
September 15, 201114 yr Author recieved them yesterday. Man they are small! I guess this should not be a sureprise as you can see from the web that they mount in a standard outlet configuration, but actually getting them you realize you could easily lose these $44 remotes. Had to link it to one device just to check it out (despite Michel's warning ) and the range and worakbilty seems good. I really welcome this change in the Remotelinc. I would have done a few things differently, but Oh well, at least a big improvement. Now if we can just have isy support
September 15, 201114 yr Just got in a 4-button. As noted, very small but appears to be quality build, although very hard to toggle the on-off switch with your finger. I had to use a pointer. Don't know how much work it takes for Michel to program in a new product, but hope that this would relatively easy for him, maybe, hopefully a derivative of the RemoteLinc 1. Good luck and can't wait to program in a few scenes....
September 16, 201114 yr Received an 8 scene unit today. Big improvement over the clunky first generation RemoteLincs. Has anyone come up with a good way to label the buttons?
September 18, 201114 yr I would think a label maker with clear tape would work well. I need to go out and buy some clear tape...
October 2, 201114 yr They look really cool. They don't work with ISY. Add me to the list of "any chance of seeing this in the next beta?!?!" group...
October 2, 201114 yr Hi Bondo, Possible but I cannot guarantee. We need to release a few bug fixes immediately which we cannot put on hold. We'll do our best. With kind regards, Michel
October 7, 201114 yr I also received my remotelinc 2 today. I am also anxiously waiting for ISY to support it... It will be great to be able to use this small remote the same way I can use an 8 buttons keypad...
October 7, 201114 yr Hello stef2, It shall be in our next beta ... hopefully within a couple of week. With kind regards, Michel
