matapan Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 From the designer of the Apple iPod comes Nest, an intelligent thermostat which is purported to be easy to use and very user accessible. http://www.nest.com/ Ever wonder if the same capabilities in this nicely designed thermostat can be mimicked with ISY and the Insteon controlled Venstar thermostat?
elvisimprsntr Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 If I didn’t already have a Venstar Insteon controllable TStat I would buy one of those. I can't justify shelling out another $250 unless there is a significant saving over my current Venstar. I guess I could always sell my Venstar+adapter. I would be curious if the nest unit is controllable via the ISY networking module using http get commands. Might be unnecessary as if seems to require your zip code which may have a tie in to local weather and utility rates. The learning function seems pretty cool.
fitzpatri8 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 The current answer is in another thread: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=7144 Hi Guys, Yes, I do agree but unfortunately their APIs is not public. In case any one finds public APIs, we would be glad to take a look at its implementation. With kind regards, Michel _________________ Michel Kohanim Universal Devices, Inc.
