Mail Server Fail

Featured Replies

Posted

Yesterday I was ableto send txt messages and Email for notifications. I tried to test the notifications tonight and got a mailer server failure - password not accepted.

I have the SMTP setting at Use Default.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hello remedy1234,

It's always best to use your own SMTP server as our default may impose limits.

From the logs, there are many errors for gmail.coim ... (host unknown).

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel

Now I'm getting "Mail server DNS error"

Help?

Thanks

Are you still using the default mail server?

If not, what is your SMTP server? Are you sure ISY can get to the Internet?

With kind regards,

Michel

Hey Michel

No I'm not using default,SMTP is icloud and I am connected to the internet.

Thanks Tim

You might have to use your ISP's smtp server. Im on cox and that is who i use. Couldn't get gmail to work properly.

I just stopped getting email notifications yesterday also.

I was using default.

I do apologize ... it seems that we had a user with 1000s of emails going to gmail.coim (not gmail.com) and that caused us to reach the limit for this month.

Please do be kind enough to use your own SMTP servers as much as possible.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel

I finally got the test to work. For some reason when I put a name in the "FROM" field it would not go through. However I still cannot

get it to notify me on the trigger of the program. It worked fine before on the default.

The test is working fine.?????

Thanks Tim

Hi Tim,

Our mail server is back up ... the main issue was that we had reached the limit and had to unblock the account for it to work again.

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel

Thanks for the update,it works on default any idea why it will not work with my server?

Thanks Tim

Hi Tim, what is your server?

You have to make sure you use the correct port for your specific server.

Also, please note that some ISPs mail servers, do not require userid/password (you are already on their network).

I can confirm that these settings do indeed work with iCloud and Verizon text messaging:

SMTP Server: smtp.mail.me.com

SMTP Port: 587

User ID: your-user-id@me.com

Password: (leave this blank)

From: your-user-id@me.com

Timeout: 1000

Use TLC: Unchecked
