iostream212 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Is anyone having issues with the Outletlinc dimmer? I can't get the unit to hold my ramp rate set with ISY. I am using v. 3.1.13. I can turn it on/off from ISY. On level also works. Just not the ramp rate. I thought the unit was defective so I did an RMA with Smarthome. Installed the new unit today and same thing. Everything works except the ramp rate on the replacement unit as well. So now I am doubting ISY support versus 2 DOA outletlinc dimmers.
iostream212 Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 As an update it appears the issue is solely with the ramp rate applied locally. I was able to apply different ramp rates successfully with the outletlinc dimmer in a number of various scenes.

Sometimes devices are added specifying the actual device type which results in a v.00 firmware indication which may prevent the correct method for updating the device. Lets see what is being stored in the device. Run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Device communications events selected. Update the On Level (applied locally) and Ramp Rate (applied locally) sliders to something different so the new values will be written to the OutletLinc and post the Event log.

LeeG Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 The Local Ramp Rate was set to 3 minutes using the correct command. Does either the "load sensing" or Set button turning on the load connected to the OutletLinc cause the load to turn on over 3 minutes? If nether what is the approx ramp rate being used. Just to confirm the Local On Level was set to 100% based on the event trace. Update: the spec's on the web sales page for the OutletLInc does not list the ability to set a Ramp Rate. The User Manual does indicate that ability. Suggest trying the manual method of double tapping the Set button to see if a Local Ramp Rate can be set that way. The technique is described in the User Guide. With the correct command being issued but not having an effect there is the possibility the device does not support that ability. The ICON Dimmers are the same way, fixed Ramp Rate.
iostream212 Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Interesting. So turning on the lamp locally took ~30 seconds to ramp on. Changing the values in ISY for local ramp rate did not effect this rate when controlled locally or from the admin console. The on level was correct, being changed to 100%. The double tap method did work to change the ramp rate. This manual ramp rate limits ramp times to 0.5-9 seconds. This is fine for my use. I was just thrown because I expected it to do everything like a normal lamplinc unit. I got the rate set to a good level when operating manually, otherwise it behaves fine in scenes. Thanks for the insight.
