JackdawFool Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Today I installed two new IOLincs to control my garage doors. I was running ISY firmware version 3.2.4 when I linked the two IOLincs. After first linking the IOLincs, I first verified that I seemed to have the IOLincs connected properly (I'm using existing magnetic sensors that are part of my garage door setup to detect when the doors are closed. Not ideal, as it's a normally open sensor.) So the way I have it connected, the green light on the IOlinc is lit only when the door is fully closed. Then, through the ISY admin console I set the IOLincs to operate in Momentary A mode. Next I tested my setup - The sensor light works as I expect for my configuration, and by sending an on command to the IOLinc, it opens and closes the garage door as I would expect. Then I attempted to change the Momentary hold time (10ths of seconds) for each of the relays. I entered a value of 10 and hit save. It would perform the write to the device and then return to the options dialog. I hit Close to return to the Admin Console. However, when I select the relay and click the Set Options button, the options window still shows a value of 0 for the Momentary hold time. No matter what I enter, it seems to always show zero after I leave the options dialog and come back. I tried querying the device to see if that updated the value and it did not. Then I updated to the latest ISY firmware - version 3.2.6. I deleted the IOLincs from the ISY admin console, unplugged them and attempted to factory reset them. I am not sure I performed a proper factory reset as my results didn't seem to match the instructions I have - I unplugged the IOLinc for 10 seconds, held down the set button while plugging it in, and then after a second of continuing to hold the set button, the IOLinc emitted a loud continuous tone. (I expected it to beep after about three seconds.) I waited a handful of seconds, and when the tone did not stop, I released the set button. Then the tone did stop. Next I linked the IOLincs back with the ISY. I noted that the IOLincs both still showed Momentary A mode, so I suspect my attempt at a factory reset did not work. I attempted to change the Momentary hold time again, to no avail. Then I also tried changing the Momentary mode and that also did not work (same thing as with the Momentary hold time - it appears to save the change, but when I return to the relay settings, it's as if I never made any changes.) I've tried all of the settings on the options dialog and nothing I do appears to save. I can however, still get the status of the sensor and open and close the garage door with the relay just fine. Any suggestions as to what I should do next? Oh, and my IOLincs are both (2450) IOLinc v.41 if that should matter.
LeeG Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Check Help | About, verify the Firmware and UI line both say 3.2.6. The Momentary hold time display was a problem that is working at 3.2.6. Suspect the Admin Console (UI) is not at 3.2.6. If the UI is showing 3.2.6 run Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer with Level 3 selected. Change the Momentary hold time, click Save, when the progress bar is gone, click Close and click Set Options again. Post the event trace.
JackdawFool Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Thank you so much for your help. I checked the version and both my UI and firmware check out as 3.2.6. LeeG Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Looks like the Momentary hold time was set to 50. With the Event Viewer running as before... Right click the I/O Linc Sensor node, select Diagnostics | Query Insteon Engine Then repeat setting the Momentary hold time to some value other than 50, click Save, Close, Set Options again and post that trace.
JackdawFool Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Yes, 50 is what I entered. My previous log was captured after clicking Set Options for the IOLinc relay, not the sensor, if that matters. I've done what you specified, this time on the sensor, using a value of 25. It still shows as 0 when I open the Set Options dialog the second time. LeeG Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Thank you. Using the Relay node before was fine. It was necessary to use the Sensor node for access to the Diagnostic selection. It does not appear for a right click on the Relay node. There is only one set of options on the I/O Linc so it does not matter the Set Options is used on the Sensor or Relay node. The I/O Linc is an I2CS device. The command sequence being used to retrieve the Momentary hold time is not working for an I2CS device. 3.2.6 fixed the problem for a non I2CS I/O Linc but not an I2CS I/O Linc. The Momentary hold time is being set correctly. The I/O Linc Relay should be reacting to the value set even though Set Options is not retrieving the correct value for the next display.
JackdawFool Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 OK, I understand. Thanks! Is it the case as well for the other options for the IOLinc? For example, if I set the mode to Momentary B, it still reports being at Momentary A when I return. Can I assume it actually changed to Momentary B? LeeG Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The I2CS device reported Momentary A the next time even though the command sequence I see on mine to go from A to B was the same issued on your I2CS device. Try setting Latching mode, Close, Set Options and see if it reports Latching mode.
JackdawFool Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Here is the attempt at setting latching mode. Weird that I seem to not be able to change the mode as the admin console is what I used to change the IOLinc from latching mode to Momentary A in the first place, though I made the change under 3.2.4. LeeG Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The I/O Linc continues to report momentary mode A. It is the first command in the trace, Get Operational Flags (GOF), which is returning an 0A. This indicates the LED on Tx option is set along with Momentary A. The commands to change to latching mode and to change to other momentary modes are the same as being issued here. My I/O Linc is not an I2CS device so there may be some other command sequence needed for I2CS. It is strange that it did seem to work at 3.2.4, at least to get to Momentary A mode. If the I/O Linc relay is being commanded directly (not with a Scene) it does not matter which momentary mode is defined. If using a Scene then it is very important as the mode determines which commands can be used under what circumstances.
JackdawFool Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Thanks again for all your help with this! So I think I am out of luck until there is an ISY update. To best use these I2CS IOLincs in scenes with my setup I believe I need to be able to reverse the trigger setting and change the momentary mode, etc. Is there something I can do to bring this to the attention of universal devices?
Michel Kohanim Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Hello JackdawFool, I am so very sorry for the inconvenience. LeeG has already kept us abreast of this issue. At the moment, we are waiting for instructions from SmartHome as to the method we should use for scenarios where we used to use i1 PEEK/POKE commands. With kind regards, Michel
JackdawFool Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Thanks Michel! I love the product and hope there will be a fix soon.
Michel Kohanim Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Hello JackdawFool, Since we didn't hear back from SH, I just ordered a new IOLinc on Friday. This is on top of our priority list and should be fixed as soon as we get the unit. With kind regards, Michel
Nuttycomputer Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 JackdawFool, Just wanted to chime in here. I had the same problem as you with an IOLinc I got as part of the garage kit. I did not need to adjust any of the other settings like trigger reverse, so can't help you there. However, I found I could adjust the momentary setting locally on the device following the Hold Set 3x instructions provided. So for example if it was stuck in Momentary A (as mine was): Hold Set until Beeps, light flashing Hold Set until Beeps, light flashing Hold Set until Beeps, light stops flashing Will bring it to Momentary B, performing it again will bring it to Momentary C. I was then able to bring up the options on the ISY and confirm it reported Momentary C as well.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Hello everyone, We are working on this and should have a beta release by mid next week. With kind regards, Michel
i814u2 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 I'm having the same issue with some IO Linc's that I just purchased. I don't see mention of any new beta releases being available; was there any update to this? I'm willing to test a beta (assuming I can roll back if needed). If I'm just missing the post with the beta, please correct me. Thanks, Josh
