Dim Commands not seen by the ISY

Recommended Posts

Before I change anything to try to fix this and loose the root cause I was wanting input on a new issue that appeared last night.

My ISY stopped seeing Dim/Bright commands from devices in the house. Everything else seems to be working fine. Thought? Has anyone else ever seen this?

Check the PLM for link records. The Start/Stop Manual Change (Dim/Bright) messages are Group Broadcast messages only (no follow up Group Cleanup Direct). If the PLM lacks a matching link record it will not process the Group Broadcast message..

Thanks LeeG. Looking at PLM link records is extremely difficult for me as I have many outdoor motion detectors and thermostat adapters. It is nearly impossible for me to get a quite enough environment to get PLM link records without interruption.

Even when I isolate the PLM from the power line, it is a dual band model and I have a tough time keeping RF commands from stopping PLM link reads.

As such, based on your post, I rebooted the PLM and ISY and now all is well, so I am guessing a glitch in either the PLM or the ISY.

From Devices. I did not attempt dim/bright any device from the Admin console.

Noticed that programs that responded to Dim/Bright commands stopped working. That is what clued me in to issue. Used event viewer to look for comms, which there were none on device bright/dim, but other comms seemed fine. But as LeeG pointed out, that could be because of group cleanup, which I suspect is right.

Earlier in the evening, I noticed two programs failed to run that are triggered by status of devices. These programs ran fine in subsequent tests. I attributed it to a rare glitch, but now I suspect that the group command was not heard, and the group cleanup from the devices was interrupted causing the miss in the ISY.

Hi Illusion,

Thank you. I wished I could just let it go but I have a nagging feeling that this might happen again. If it does, would you be kind enough to let us know immediately? I would like to run some test just to make sure it's the PLM and not the ISY's firmware.

With kind regards,

Michel
