Unable to restore a backup

When I go to the Administrative screen, there is nothing. I tried to install a backup file but that doesn't work. I get two error messages. One pertaining to Java and the other regarding the ISP 192.168.1.99. That isp is not the one I recall from day one, so it must have changed. Can anyone come up with a working solution?

Lets try a reboot of the ISY. Unplug the PLM from power and if you have a separate power supply for the ISY, also unplug that from the ISY for a few seconds. Plug everything back in and after a minute or so try to log in again using the link I provided.

Post your results. Also, what is the status of the LED's on the ISY ?

I unpluged the ISY and the PLM. Then plugged them back in , went to the site you posted and got the same results. The same 2 error messages and no login panel. Everything blank. Ver. 7 of Java. Part of the schedule is running. Lights turn on but not off. I had this problem before and found it was due to line noise from the pool pump. I soved the problem by turning the lights off a few minutes after the pump turned off. That change is evidently not in effect.

What is the status of the ISY front panel LED's ?

Do you know what firmware version the ISY is running ?

What Antivirus/Firewall software do you have running ?

Do you have another computer you can attempt to login from ?

Java 7 has been reported to be problematic however Michel has posted that ISY does work with Java 7. I'm assuming Michel was referring to firmware Ver 3.2.x

During the re-boot all green LEDs were flashing. The "POWER" led is the only one ON right now.

Good. Thats how it should be. See my previous post for additional questions.

Thanks for all your responses. The firmware ver. is 3.2.6 and Norton is the program along with Windows 7 firewall and anti-virus. I have a laptop I can try . I'll let you know the result.

I would try shutting off the firewall for a quick test. If ISY's IP address changed, it may no longer be permitted via whatever exception was previously set. This also may depend on what Win7 thinks of your network (Home/Work/Public). Make sure it's set to home or work as public will block a lot of services on your LAN. If you are set to Home or Work Network and shutting off the firewall fixes the problem, you may need to create an exception for the ISY's IP address to allow all traffic to/from that address.

I shut-off the firewall and no difference. Tried the laptop with no difference. We had a power outage 2 nights ago could this be the cause of the problem?

In the Help Tab About Choice.

Does it show the firmware is 3.2.6 and the UI is also 3.2.6?

Also it should give you the URL the ISY is assigned.

Did you ever clear the Java Cache?

In the Tools Diagnostics. PLM Info/Status does show it is talking the the PLM?

In the TOOLS there is nothing shown under PLM Info. In the ABOUT all that comes up is the copywrite info and the 2 error messages I noted previously. I have never cleared the JAVA cache. Where do I find it? No firmware version is listed in HELP.

Java cache in Windows7 can be cleared by:

Start>Control Panel>Programs>Java

The java window that pops up has 5 tabs. General tab, towards the bottom "Temperary Internet Files" click "Settings"

On the next window that pops up hit "Delete Files" wait for them to delete then hit ok.

edit: also while you have the java window up in the General tab, hit about and post which java rev you have. It might help, as was said there were a lot of problems with java version 7 at one time.

When I go to Control>Programs I find JAVA listed but there is no CHANGE tab all thats available is UNINSTALL. Wouldn't it be easier to re-install the firmware (3.2.6) and then install the backup? The JAVA program is Ver.7, update 5. No safe mode shown.

Wrong route. You want Control Panel / JAVA

Then:

The java window that pops up has 5 tabs. General tab, towards the bottom "Temperary Internet Files" click "Settings"

On the next window that pops up hit "Delete Files" wait for them to delete then hit ok.

Then try to access again but I suspect it still won't work since the other computer showed the same problem.

I think it's time to contact support via:

I contacted UDI Support but the connection was terrible and didn't solve anything. I was able to clear the JAVA cache. When I went to MYISY, I was able to get to the Administrative console but the login wouldn't accept "admin" as the sign in I.D. or as the password and I don't know how to overcome this problem. If I can log in I think my problems may be solved.

Michel I followed your procedure and changed the User I.D. and password. However when I tried to log in at MY ISY the I.D. and password were rejected. Still getting the error messages. I'm at a loss at what to do next. Can the ISY be re-formatted and start over from scratch? The it would be possible to install the backup.

Hello rtt3821,

I am so very sorry to hear.

Did you see the sequence of lights as described? Do you get the login dialog at all?

If you have a good backup, yes, indeed you can factory reset ISY ... but you need a good backup so that you can restore it. The same link has the instructions for factory reset.

This said, I strongly recommend that you try the procedure one more time.

With kind regards,

Michel
