Michel Kohanim Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Hello everyone, Just wanted to let everyone know that we are now running on a new and quite powerful site with dedicated bandwidth and storage and, above all, dedicated IT. I want to thank you for bearing all the problems with our old forum and please do let us know if you experience any other anomalies/difficulties. With kind regards, Michel Quote
MWareman Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) IP.board is a GREAT choice. Hopefully, the spam can be better dealt with.. My issue currently is that I cannot seem to connect Tapatalk anymore. Is this known - or an issue my end? Thanks, Michael. Edit: The posting date of your announcement is way off... showing '19 December 2012 - 01:12 PM' Edited July 7, 2014 by MWareman Quote
WayneW Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Did the bookmarks feature make the migration? That was probably a vendor specific feature that doesn't exist here? It looks like all thread subscriptions got dropped? Am I looking at this wrong or is there a way to get thos back? Losing both my bookmarks and subscriptions leaves me floundering for references that I had. Quote
MWareman Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) Tapatalk is working now. Thanks! Strange read/unread status, but I'm sure that will work itself out. Edited July 8, 2014 by MWareman Quote
Mark H Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Tapatalk is working now. Thanks! Strange read/unread status, but I'm sure that will work itself out. Yes, Tapatalk had to be installed, which has been done. Glad to hear it's working again! Quote
MaddBomber83 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I like the new look, have a few other forums I read follow the same layout. Question: Before there was a mark all forums read button; now there is just a mark forum read button for each forum. Anyone know a way to mark everything read without clicking on each sub forum? LeeG Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 At the very bottom of each screen there is a "Mark Community Read" option. Quote
jsu1995 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 When posting to a thread, I can't seem to get the 'QUOTE' button to work. I tried Chrome and Firefox to see if it was a problem with Internet Explorer 11, but the button is non-existent in those browsers. Also, I am unable to 'PASTE' text into a post that I am composing. LeeG Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 This is a paste "My afternoon project." example using Chrome. Quote

jsu1995 Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That's weird. I don't even see a button in Chrome. (I attached a screen shot of what I see.) As a matter of fact, I had to go back to IE just to post this reply. Quote

However, when I log out - my screen looks exactly like your screenshot. Make sure you are logged in - and make sure any no-script, cookie management or ad blocker plugin is disabled. LOL I guess I took for granted that I had been previously logged in in the Chrome browser. Thanks for setting me straight. QUOTE works as does the PASTE feature. (. . . Stupid Internet Explorer). Mark H Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Ah, thank you all for the reminder about IE 11...... I just applied a small patch that will fix some IE issues in general. If anyone using IE was having problems, please empty your browser cache, visit a page that was giving you errors, and press CTRL-F5. If the problem continues, please let us know. Quote
PurdueGuy Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Unfortunately, every email from the forum is marked as spam by Gmail. I keep clicking "Not spam" but it hasn't figured it out yet. Is there any way change the layout of the outbound messages? I keep clicking on the persons profile link, instead of the link to the message. I may have to re-train my brain! Quote
Mark H Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Gmail seems overly aggressive in flagging spam, but that's something one of the staff will have to address. I suspect I know why, and I'll notify Mike, thanks PurdueGuy. Quote
PurdueGuy Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 No problem. I finally got the "want to send to the anti-spam team for research" and sent it to them. Hopefully it will help! Quote

Losing both my bookmarks and subscriptions leaves me floundering for references that I had. I'm not sure about the "Bookmarks" feature you mentioned, I'll leave that to a Staff member to answer, but if by subscriptions you mean topics and posts you're "following", click your name in the upper right of the page and in the drop-menu choose "Content I Follow". Does that show the list of items you mean? If I'm thinking of the same feature in phpBB you mean, then yes, those should have been preserved. Quote

None of the threads I had subscriptions to made the transition. I had it set to automatically subscribe to notifications from any thread I posted in or a few that I subscribed to explicitly. Quote
MWareman Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 None of the threads I had subscriptions to made the transition. I had it set to automatically subscribe to notifications from any thread I posted in or a few that I subscribed to explicitly. I just noticed that myself. All gone.. Any chance of getting thread subscriptions back - or are we sol? Quote
Mark H Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 OK, click your name in upper right again, only go to My Settings. Next page, choose the Notification Options tab on the left. Configure that section as you prefer, and scroll down then save. That won't solve the missing ones, but can another person or two please confirm that they have the same problem? If this is a global issue we'll have to investigate further, since subscriptions (follows) should have been preserved. If it's just one or two people affected, it may not be fixable and you'd have to resubscribe. Thank you. Quote

Yes, all my old subscriptions are gone. New subscriptions/follows that I make seem to be working properly. I am sorry that bookmarks are lost, that was a nice way to find "good stuff" that wasn't active anymore, but I can do that in my browser, until the URLs break. Quote

Xathros Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 I too am missing my old subscriptions. I didn't have many so it's not a huge deal for me. -Xathros Quote
