tpolito Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I have had my ISY for a few years. When I got it I enabled Internet access (I have a uPnP route), it set up perfectly. A while ago, I noticed I could not control it remotely through Mobilinc. I am thinking this is most likely due to the fact that I added a network hard drive that is also using port 443. So I went into the ISY configuration and changed the https port to 1443 per the wiki page. Now when I try to enable internet access, it keeps failing. I have updated to the latest version of the ISY, and tried to reboot it, but to no avail. Have I done something to deisable the "Enable Internet Access" function?
Michel Kohanim Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Hello tpolito, It's quite possible that something else is using that port as well. In all cases, it's best not to use UPnP to configure the router since the settings are volatile. It would be best to create port forwarding rules manually: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... PnP_Router With kind regards, Michel
tpolito Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 I tried that as well. In the ISY, changed the https port to 2500 and the http port to 82 since my ISP blocks 80, and 81 is being used by another device. I followed the directions on PortForward.com to forward those points. Then I got on a computer outside of my network and entered the path https://XXX.XX.XXX.X:2500, and I got nothing. I also tried it without the "s" on https, and still nothing. I consider myself fairly computer savy, but networking is something I'm not very experienced with. Is there anythign else I am supposed to do?
LeeG Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Is the xxx.xxx.xx.x value being used the Modem WAN IP address?
tpolito Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 I'm not sure of the terminology, but it is my external IP. I do have a few other devices and Remote Desktop working from outside my network. I'm just having problems with the ISY for some reason. I probably know just enough to make me dangerous.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Hello tpolito, I think it would be more expeditious if you submitted a ticket so that we can help you out. With kind regards, Michel
oberkc Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I suspect that I am not alone in that setting these types of things up for internet connection is something that I do so infrequently that I never get knowledgeable enough to offer any advice. When I need to do it, I figure it out as best I can, get frustrated, read a lot of web pages and user manuals, and, eventually, get lucky. Three months later, I have forgotten just about everything.
tpolito Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 Submitted a claim and this has been resolved. As I figured, stupid mistakes on my part. It can't even express how impressed I was at the prompt response, patient and curious help, and knowledge and professionalism of the gentleman that helped me. That is definitely something that is not expected these days, but greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tom
