I'm looking for a thermostat, I have a 994iZ so I guess I have the ability to run an RCS thermostat as well as an insteon. Are there any trade offs going either way or can I just ignore protocol and choose whichever thermostat I like the most?

Hello ellesshoo,

 

I really cannot recommend one over the other. What I can tell you though is that RCS Zigbee Thermostats are great for commercial venues/3 Phase installations where INSTEON has problems. Apart from that, yes, you should use whichever you like.
