ELK-M1KPNAV sending commands to ISY

does anyone know if the fancy LCD ELK panel ELK-M1KPNAV can the lighting and tasks send commands to the ISY to then control my devices.

It's an expensive panel, but if it's also a central control that can turn scenes and sprinklers/etc on/off, it may be more wife-friendly

Oh, yea, and any type of "2 way updates" back to the panel, eg: light on/off indicator ?

It connects directly to the Elk using rs-485 connection that the other keypads use. This would indicate that it does not have any ability to directly control the ISY, it would be going through the Elk. How user friendly it is for controlling lighting really comes down to the software they have written for it. It looks OK in the pictures.

However, if you run ElkM1togo, you will see that Elk isn't the greatest and keeping track of lighting status. It controls lights just fine, but it seems to get out of sync when indicating the status.

Personally, when and if I ever decide to do touch screens, I will probably be using tablets mounted to the wall running dedicated software which directly links to ISY and simultaneously directly links to the Elk giving you the best of both worlds. And doing it cheaper. And you can still run other software if you like that might directly link to your sound system or whatever. Or maybe you buy a software suite that incorporates all these things as plug-ins to a single program.

I'm with you apostolakisl. Although, not if, but when. And they don't have to mounted to the wall.

Touchscreens should be the most flexible platform to do anything or everything Home Automation. Not to mention integrating surveillance cameras and a zillion other things pc's can do. And with the increasing availability and lower costs, these tablets will play a big role in my home. I am thankful I haven't purchased the wall mounted security panel touchpads, some selling for over $1,000 at one time. What a waste that would have been.
