HTML forms & mobile safari

I've been trying to use the html pages from my iphone browser but when executing the form submissions i get a "lost network connection" (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) error.

 

A brief web search for this error seems to point at a server side problem with sessions or other issues.

 

Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to resolve this.

Hello az1324,

 

Currently, our auto configuration (UPnP) opens only port 443 (https). If you wish, you will have to open the HTTP port (80) to access it via HTTP. We strongly recommend against this since your credentials will be sent in the clear.

Well right now it does work over http from firefox on my computer, just not on mobile safari. Both are connected over LAN.

My https: also works fine, but http: doesn't. I would like to have port 80 open as I am trying to access my lighting from within my LAN and not externally. I am using the WiFi built into my iPhone.

You do NOT need to open port 80 on your router to access ISY locally on the LAN. All you need is to figure out what's your ISY's local LAN IP address. So, please do not open the port 80 on your router.

My https: also works fine, but http: doesn't. I would like to have port 80 open as I am trying to access my lighting from within my LAN and not externally. I am using the WiFi built into my iPhone.

I observed the following on my iPhone:

 

1. When connected to the local LAN via wifi, I can navigate to the device page for any device using HTTP and get the device status, but the change status buttons ("On", Off", "Dim", etc.) do not work. The HTTP response times out.

 

2. HTTP interface also does not work via an Internet connection (with port 80 open on the firewall). But who wants to open their private network to insecure traffic anyway?

 

3. HTTPS interface works fine when iPhone is connected to the LAN via wifi.

 

4. HTTPS interface does not work over the Internet until a self signed SSL certificate is installed on the ISY. With the default certificate, iPhone gives the user an "invalid certificate" warning. Even if you click the Continue button to ignore the warning, iPhone will give a "network connection lost" error. If you install a valid self-signed certificate, the warning goes away and the interface works perfectly.

 

Since the HTML UI is so lightweight anyway, I don't notice any performance difference between connecting over the LAN or Internet, so I just bookmarked the public address and access my ISY from there, whether I'm in my house or out.

Retested iPhone with firmware 2.6.4. Confirming no more timeout issues.
