If I create an Insteon program with no if conditions, does the ISY periodically run the program's then clause? On what schedule?

Has anyone had experience triggering the 2476S sense wire using 120V from a phase that is different from the line voltage driving the 2476S? I assume this would be a big no-no since it potentially puts 240V across an internal circuit in the switch depending on how it is designed, but I was curious if anyone knew anything for sure?

I consider my home install pretty lucky because I really have not had any issues. I buy a new switch, start up the admin console add it and move on. I recently tackled a 4 way switch install which went well (1 Keylinc and 2 Switchlincs) Button A is controlled by either a remote linc button or the Keylinc A. Now because I have the keylinc I wanted to program the other buttons B, C, D along with the remotelinc buttons. So to make a long story short I'm really stuck. I deleted the switchlinc and no matter what I do, I can not add it back. If I try to backup the ISY, I get an error CONF/XXXXXX.REC where XXXXXX is the address of the switch. hello, I am setting up a new computer and all i get is the Java Circle spinning and spinning.. It's a win7 64 bit system but i'm pretty sure my IE is 32 ( have both versions of Java installed) still works on other win7 computers in same office... Thanks for helping

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to read the internal temp that is art of an ELK/RCS setup. I can see the internal temp in the ISY config and adjust set points from the isy actions, but cannot seem to read the temp as a variable that i can put in a text message or notification. Thanks, Steve

Hi everybody, I have now spent hours trying to set my ISY-994I/IR PRO and keep getting Discovering nodes retry message. I was following the instructions that came with the device and was doing well up until i needed to set up the Query. How do I fix this? Why do I get this message? For a 3-way switch do both switches have to be Insteon or can you leave one as a regular switch? If both must be Insteon and the light is dimmable does both switches have to be dimmers? Thanks!

I see constructs like below in many many programs. Almost all I think. What is the strategy - why test to see if something is both on and off at the same time? When the ISY gets it's power from the insteon PLM.....just what kind of power is the PLM supplying? Is the supplied power adherent to the 802.3af standard? Is the insteon wart supplying 5VDC, same as the wart supplies? It looks like the ISY box runs from 5Volts when using the wart. Here's my vote to have the next hardware revision use POE according to the 803.2af standard...48VDC, up to 15 watts. Or 803.2at (POE+) if necessary. And through the Ethernet port too....not the other serial port that connects to the PLM.

I bought a new router and have it set up. I have connected mobile devices and PCs. I can't get my ISY to connect to it for anything. It is trying to use the following IP address xxx.yyy.2.114 which is what it used on the old router. The new router has a range of xxx.xxx.1.2 to xxx.yyy.1.254. So my old IP isn't in the new router's range. It will not connect when I go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i How do I get this straight? Thanks!

I just upgraded and now my iPhone and iPad will no longer get me to the admin console to check Elk security. I was able to download the admin console on my Mac, but iPhone and iPad won't open a Java file. Any solutions?

I have several KeypadLink's and I would like to program a single button on each to turn on/off all outside lights to be used in a emergency situation. Is there a way to do so? I get hung up on naming responder/controller exactly what is the difference? Embarrassed for having to ask.

Hey there, I've been able to create a self-signed cert, but I just tried creating a CSR (so I can sign my own custom self-signed SSL cert) but the SSL tool doesn't seem to work. I choose "Generate Certificate Request to CA", fill out all the fields, 2048, FQDN, etc, then nothing. Known issue? Anyone else have this problem? T

Up till a couple of weeks ago my scene worked fine. Currently i've added only one outletlinc, and one switchlinc to my keypad and remote. I have others to add, but i am going slowly to make sure everything works. I would like to create a scene where a button on the keypadlinc which will be the controller, will actuate a program, so when we are away, a group of lights will come on and off at the set times. Question. When existing lights and new lights to be installed are put into the scene, will they only run at the activation of a scene button? I have 2 LampLincs in my master bedroom and have a program to turn them both on. I read where doing it as a scene would be better so I created a scene with both of them as a responder and used that line in my program. Now only 1 of the lamps comes on although my ISY says they are both on. What did I do wrong? Should they both be controllers instead of responders or is something else causing it? Thanks

I've set up a 3-way virtual circuit. One side (the side with the load) is a SwitchLinc. The other side (the virtual side) is a KeyPadLinc. I created a scene and added both Linc devices as controllers/responders. This works exactly as expected when I use either the SwitchLinc switch or the KeyPadLinc button. In particular, using the SwitchLinc switch changes the status of the LED on the KeyPadLinc button to reflect whether the light is on or off. I ordered my ISY to use with lots of Switchlincs but I can't find any that match. Here is my story... I recently ordered Switchlincs from Amazon and they did not match my cooper wallplates. So I went to HD and Lowes to find wallplates that did match...non of them did. I returned the Switchlincs to Amazon and ordered a white Switchlinc 2476S directly from Smarthome along with a white wallplate in every name brand Smarthome sells. I have two garage doors, both hooked up exactly the same way with the I/OLInc and garage door kit. IT has been a while, but I'm pretty sure I remember wiring both using the red and black wires (not black and green wires) from the sensor. I just noticed today that for one of my garagedoors, when it is closed, the relay (and sensor) status are off. When open, both are on. However, for my other garage door, the relay is ON and sensor is OFF when the door is closed. Why the discrepancy and how do I fix it? Thanks

Okay, so I understand that the "replace with" function is intended for replacment of like devices, such as when the original device fails. However, I've got an Insteon dimmer (2477D) installed at a location - configured and working just fine in a few programs that I've set up. I now wish to replace the dimmer with a 6-key keypadlinc (2486DWH6). Now, it occurs to me that the top and bottom buttons are really identical to the dimmer, while the other 4 keys are extra functions. SoooOOOOooo ... if I install the keypad and start the replace function, telling the ISY to replace the keypad with the dimmer, will it work as I intend or is this just setting myself up for …

My oven/microwave in wall unit is consistently reducing the hops left on several of my devices. According to the installation manual... http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/13838/MAYTAG-Built-In-Oven-Electric-with-Microwave-L0812500 It needs to be on a separate 40 Amp circuit. I do not see what the appliance is rated for so I'm assuming a filter would need to be 240 volts and 40 amps. How can I filter this appliance? Thanks!
