I've updated the links on my NodeLink posts to allow downloading it again. Auto-update won't work as it's a new domain name.

Pretty much retired. I'm a Z-Wave / HASS guy now so I haven't had to write any new software. I honestly didn't think anyone was even looking at NodeLink anymore. BSD 13/14 have .NET ported on them so NodeLink could run on em, but that ship has sailed now. In any case, in the next week or so I can post an updated version of NodeLink and remove the broken update check and website links.

Lazy morning so I came back on the forum for a peek. What operating system are you looking to use? Most people were running the Link programs on a cheap raspberry pi. I still have all the docs and software, just shut down the website. Let me know what you're looking to do and I should be able to help.

So we need to start with a list of your devices. In NodeLink can you enable debug logging on the main page and on the HS device page (in NodeLink). After that, when you restart NodeLink it will print out the full list of devices returned on the ASCII interface. From there I can start deciphering what is what.

I can definitely add support for alternate login credentials. Unfortunately I don't run HS or an ISY anymore so it'll be more difficult to add other HS devices. I'm away for work most weekdays now but I'll send some info this weekend on how to get responses from HS' ASCII interface. Hopefully your devices won't be too hard to add.

Small (home) Office router replacement recommendations
io_guy replied to Geddy's topic in Coffee Shop
If you go the Dream Machine route, wait for the Dream Router to be released. It's the upcoming new version of it with wifi6 and limited POE. It's got a slower CPU but is also cheaper and all a simple home network needs. -
I appreciate your comments and they all make sense. I certainly won't argue the better "feel" of Sunnata. What I will say is that the Zooz dimmers are a large step up from the clinky feel of Insteon. The popcorn effect and dimming is actually substantially better on a Zen77 than a 2477D and many older ZW dimmers. This has to do with the 77 being mosfet (trailing edge) based rather than triac (rising edge), which makes a night and day difference in LED bulb compatibility and full span dimming. At the end of the day I look at forums like this as more of a DIY experience. Which is why I see a place for something like Zooz, where it's a 3rd the price of RA3 with no ongoing installer costs. Call it the best bang for the buck.

Still waiting for an actual example. "look and feel" is extremely subjective and zwave has many different vendors/designs. Some people like the sh1tty look and feel of Insteon. What's the operation that RA2 can do that zwave can't?
-
I don't know who keeps saying this but I'll say this - they simply don't know what they're talking about. 10 years ago yes, zwave was a mess. Now with mature 700 series devices and an open protocol, zwave is exceptional. If someone is ranting the greatness of Lutron vs. zwave they're a dealer or have never tried new zwave. If someone wants to chirp about how great RA2 is or how super great RA3 is, don't until you run a 700 series zwave network for a while.

Very few do S2. HA, Hubitat, Homeseer. S2 is much more efficient than S0. It requires fewer discrete sends. I put my locks/entry on S2, every else I keep I secure.

It can also be powered by USB

I have 3 of them, they work great.

These are all successful writes to the 2 Venstars. You might need to ask UDI why the values aren't showing up. The DSC has similar successful writes.

With Insteon Done...Now What / How to Integrate Others
io_guy replied to KHouse's topic in Coffee Shop
I use Zen77 dimmers and Zen76 switches. Most of my 3-ways setups are dimmers. I don't use the "companion" switches (but they do make them) cause I want them all to look and function the same. Also depending on the location in the house, I can use 2x or 3x tap on different switches for different functions. Companions wouldn't be as bad if your 3-ways were all switches, not dimmers. In Zooz land it's the ZAC99 which is a single mechanical momentary switch that wires into the "traveller" line. -
With Insteon Done...Now What / How to Integrate Others

I have 3x 3-way setups. Not really. ZW allows for director associations with the controller (device -> controller -> device). So the software doesn't need to be running but the USB controller needs to be plugged in. Using this method makes the 3-way just about instant. With the software running, the status of the switches still gets reported back to software. I started with some ZW on the ISY but had some range/reliability issues once I switched to the 500 card. I then switched to HA for ZW and pulled all the ISY Insteon in using the integration, gradually moving programs from the ISY to HA. Since I not longer have Insteon the ISY isn't required. I'm now on about 50x 700-series devices and 3x 500-series (door locks). I can't comment on the ISY support for various ZW products, it was lacking when I was using it (although you could manually set parameters). With zwavejsmqtt virtually every ZW device gets recognized and all their parameters pulled in as readable English. I haven't had to enter a parameter number/value yet. -
With Insteon Done...Now What / How to Integrate Others

Hardware wise I like the look and feel. Always found the Insteon switches very "clicky" and the multi lights on the side ugly. Feature-wise, they're easily as fast as Insteon, with many more configuration options (taps, smart bulbs, night light, led notifications, etc.). A Zen77 does everything my old 2477D did and much more. -
With Insteon Done...Now What / How to Integrate Others
io_guy replied to KHouse's topic in Coffee Shop
Not in my case. I recently sold my entire Insteon collection on Ebay and converted everything over to Zooz ZWave. With the market for used Insteon I actually made money doing it (and I didn't charge near what the current Ebay prices are). Can honestly say I'm happier with the new setup than I ever was with Insteon. -
There are no errors in that log. All ~100 values are written to the ISY successfully. You can see the 200 response and the queue size (QS) drop.
-
Can you get a log with the ISY logging set to debug in NodeLink as well?
-
That's it. Go to the webconfig with your browser.
-
Install the Windows .NET 5 or 6 runtime. You can then run "dotnet NodeLink.dll".
