apostolakisl: Thank you for the input. I am headed to our new facility this afternoon, and I will check the ballasts on the HID. Joe.

People: This may have been discussed, but I could not find it in the 5 minutes I searched. Is there any way to use Smarthome/ISY technology to control circuit breakers? We are moving our manufacturing business to a factory which uses HID lighting. It is controlled by a series of circuit breakers and you know as well as I that more often than not, the employeess will leave without turning off those lights or the IR heating elments for that matter. It would be ideal to automate the entire plant with an ISY. Any ideas? Joe

Release 2.8.8 (RC4 - Code Freeze) Is Now Available

Rand: The only thing I did was add a couple of LL to the "Christmas" button on my Black RL. That was a few releases ago. And yes, I did press the Dim button to exit the linking mode. Joe -
Release 2.8.8 (RC4 - Code Freeze) Is Now Available
Brignolo replied to Michel Kohanim's topic in Previous Releases
I have been fairly quiet over the past several releases, but the time has come to reveal the continuance of the Black RL Battery Vampire! (I skipped 2.8.7 because the email situation did not effect me with 2.8.6.) It was somewhere around 2.8.2 that the battery life started being sucked out of the BLACK RL. Some of you new people probably did not have the wonderful experiece of the Black RL having very short battery life: To catch you up, for a period of time the Black RL's had a battery life of 1-3 days. NO ONE could figure it out...Then it was gone! Now, you have to understand it DID NOT happen with the Silver RL's just the black ones. Anyway, for me, it's back. I just up graded to 2.8.8 and will now see if the issue has been resolved. I know those who experieced this will be interested. Please let me know if you have similar experiences. Joe Other than that possibly unrelated issue 2.8.8 woks seamlessly. -
Finally was able to reinstall 2.8.2. Took quite a few tries, with a reinstallation of the security cert as well. One other thing I noticed in the config panel was that in 2.8.3 there was not the standard climate displays: temp, rainfall, etc. There was just a WeatherBug link which was useless. Joe

Not so much for me. None of my devices report and I can't even revert back to 2.8.2. Tried rebooting several times; tried reloading the 2.8.3 I get the "Upgrade Failed :Failed uploading file (reported written size is invalid) message every time; yes I cleard the Java cache several times. No luck; stuck. Joe

On another note: When trying to Right Click on a device which is near the bottom of the Main window tab (on the left) the last one or two devices will not show the function menu; Query, Rename, Disable, et al. Not a problem because you can move the device you need up to the third spot above the bottom and the right click works fine. ISY 99 Pro IR with 2.7.9 installed. Joe

gfridland: Yes, I ugraded from 2.7.7 to 2.7.8 without any issues. I have 223 nodes. Joe
-
Good question considering that I'm running 2.7.8 with 137+ devices and it works fine. What is the definition of a node and how is it calculated? Joe Nodes are generally how many scenes a device can control. A responder only device is also a node. Nodes: A SwitchLinc is 1 node LampLinc, 1 node 6-button KPL = 5 nodes An 8-button KPL is 8 nodes MotionSensor, 3 nodes IOLinc 2 nodes etc. An ISY scene is a node A scene with another controller is a node, but is already counted from the controller. Not Nodes (for example): iLinc InterfaceGo IES touchscreen Rand Rand: So according to my calculations I have 223 nodes being run by an ISY 99 Pro IR with 2.7.8 and everything is working perfectly...Go figure. sk8er02: Did you close all browsers and clear the Java Cache after installation? Joe

I have the four tstat entries as well. They are not going to bother me for the forseeable future, but I am curious as to the resolution of this issue. Other than that everything is working fine... Joe
-
Happy New Year Smileyw! Yes there is. You must add the thermostat adapter by using the Start Linking pull down item under the Link Management tab. Use the set button on the tstat adapter and follow the on-screen instructions. Joe

Dougos2: Happy New Year! Please go to http://universal-devices.us1.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=925049a46bfb51d5dae90f527&id=de858e3b1b to sign up for the new releases. You will be sent instructions as to how to upgrade. Joe

Michel / UDI Team: Thank you for all your hard work. Happy New Year! Joe
-
Michel: That would be a bargain at TWICE the price! Happy New Year! Joe
-
Michel: Ditto! To All: Let's not forget that when we bought our ISY's we were very excited about their capabilities at the point of purchase. They worked beyond our imaginations. The team at UDI have given us all these firmware updates AT NO CHARGE! Not that I'm trying to open a can of worms, but UDI is committed to the finest product they can produce and we benefit from it every day and every firmware update. Thank you UDI team. Hi Auger66: I just tried to offset my sunset/sunrise...before and after. I was able to get 9999 hours in the window. I don't know if it will work because I don't have the 416+ days to find out before I answered this post. I routinely use 3-7 hours in my programs. There are soooo many aspects of the ISY series which will enhance your Insteon network, your home, and your life. Welcome! Joe
-
An even BETTER idea... Joe
-
For the time being... What about using a WAIT 48/72 hours line in the program and then using a repeat? Joe

Michel, Gary: http://www.davisnet.com/weather/products/weather_product.asp?pnum=06555 Defines the internet access from the Davis Weather Instrumentation. Yes, Davis is the one to support. It is the most expensive, but it is also the most comprehensive AND with the most options which would interface with the ISY. It also is the most professional: http://www.home-weather-stations-guide.com/davis-weather-station.html I'm looking for a reason to buy one. If you want to use me for testing, and you want to develop the support for the Davis Instrumentation, I will be your beta. Joe
-
Absolutely, positively, without question, YES! (Or at least I would...) Here's my take on it. Weather conditions, although universally forecast for an area, are peculiar locally. There are many instances where a timely decision (i.e. IF the wind is blowing, or gusting at xxmph, THEN retract the awning) must be made locally. There are many other conditions which could trigger events fed by local weather conditions: - IF the soil in garden X is xx dry (moist) THEN turn on sprinkler X - IF AWAY is on AND the humidity outside is XX% THEN turn on airconditioner WAIT one hour and THEN Turn off AC. The list is only limited by your needs/imagination. Joe P.S. I have been looking at Davis Instrumentation for my home weather system. They seem to have the most instrumentation available.

Michel: So, do you want me to get a couple and test it? My treat! Joe
-
On a completely different note: I am pondering the addition of a wireless Venstar temperature module to monitor different parts of my home. Will the ISY see and be able to make a decision (If/Then) based on the input from the wireless sensor? And if so, how many of the remote sensors will the ISY see? Joe

Release 2.6.14 beta is now available

On a lighter note: I reinstalled my I/O Linc this evening and was pleased to see the menu for the "Set Options" which is the same for the Sensor as it is for the Relay. Now for the clarification(s): I understand the Timeout (Seconds) and Save...BUT What is: □ Program Lock □ Relay Follows Input □ Send X10 Send ON(or OFF) □ Trigger OFF □ LED on TX □ Momentary: A □ Momentary: Look at Sensor □ Momentary: Both What does checking (or unchecking) the box on each one of these options do for the relay and for the sensor? Joe
