Email Security Settings – Using App Passwords for Gmail and Yahoo with the M1XEP Email has become such a integral part of our digital lives, both personal and professional. Keeping your email account secure is a big deal, and something that service providers take very seriously. They must constantly evolve, developing new strategies and techniques to keep your accounts safe. Devices, like the ELK-M1XEP, that utilize these email services to send notifications are considered "third party" devices. In an effort to increase account security, services like Gmail and Yahoo have adopted new policies that affect the ability of third party devices to login and send messages through their servers. GMAIL USERS Google announced, starting May 30, 2022, they will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Gmail account using only your username and password. This change will result in a loss of email/text message capabilities from M1XEP's that are configured to login to a Gmail server with a standard username and password. THE SOLUTION: Google provides an alternative for devices like the M1XEP, called App Passwords. An App Password is a 16-digit passcode that gives the device permission to access the Google Account. App Passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on. The Google Account Help article linked below provides step-by-step instructions on creating an app password. YAHOO USERS Yahoo has taken as similar approach to addressing security issues for third party devices. An app or device that does not use the "Yahoo branded sign-in page" cannot login using the standard username and password. An app password must be generated and used to grant access to the account from the third-party. A Yahoo help article on generating and using an app password can be accessed using the link below. AOL USERS AOL also requires an app password for third party devices. An app or device that does not use the "AOL-branded sign in page" cannot login using the standard username and password. With any of these services, once the app password is created, simply program the M1XEP email settings as normal, and enter the app password in the password field. If possible the Magic Home controllers work best with the Node Server. The other values in the ISY is very crude and basic.

@alf there is a Polyglot for MyQ - you could run that and then program it in the ISY directly. I would go that route if it was me as its a cleaner way to do what you want.

I suspect something else is happening. This item is what Smarthome tech support recommends and has tested for use with Insteon.

I already have the return label for them to go back to Amazon and ordered some CoolAutomation HVAC controllers. I was stuck in the Honeywell walled garden so long I can't be held down anymore, I need to fly free like a bird! ? Terms of service statesM “You may cancel Your use of eco+ at any time by disabling the feature (i.e., adjusting eco+ to the lowest savings level) in the menu of the ecobee mobile app, web portal or on the ecobee thermostat feature of eco+. You may re-enable eco+ using the same menu options.” Does anyone really think the lowest settings are “Off”? Not sure I trust that. Would be better to have an actual off option. I have installed many Venstar stats and not had any issues. @Larryllix complains about his but he is old and grumpy! [emoji23]

Not going to take the chance. Thing about this stat is that its not cloud dependent. It can use the cloud if you chose. For Ecobee to push this “feature” to clients is ridiculous. I am going to use the generic Mitsubishi stats with my heat pumps along with CoolAutomation. Now for a UDI polyglot! [emoji3]

Just bought six a week ago. I am not even taking a chance and they are all going back. Too bad they are good stats overall, but I want to control my HVAC system.

Yes its a direct two wire. Should be fine. Give it a test. Again 2-wire are not supervised though. Water leaks are simple devices. Those can screw to a baseboard or back of a cabinet so they stay in place. You can also use a dab of silicone to keep it from being pushed to a corner of the cabinet etc.

Nice. Seems your all good to go! Do you have the WSOV wires in the Elk panel? If so I bet you would have enough power to run 4 wire GRI 2600s and the WSOV directly from the Elk panel without anything extra. Then in the Elk rules schedule a monthly close and open with an email to you letting you know it worked. You could time it at some random time late in the morning say 3am when your not likely to be using water. Edit: I also agree with @apostolakisl post above. Not that he cares! lol jk [emoji1787]

Agree 100% and I personally never recommend Insteon for these situations. That said, some have different risk factors than others and I don’t judge. Not something I would do but if other do its their prerogative. I do love Elk systems and the things they are capable of.

Wow TBH I never knew this, I thought the Elk only showed up after purchasing the module. Egg on my face if this is true, which since you do it, then, egg on my face! However it does still need the M1XEP. I still stand by my post though. Can you arm and disarm your system? What about notifications when the elk is armed/disarmed? How well do the Elk rules work vs a direct ISY program? Limitations? *Also cool thing to do is have the Elk speaker sound/speak/notify you “Water Leak Detected in X” - because when your sleeping you wont see any notifications! [emoji3]
