So first thing is you need to first figure out does the water shutoff valve need power to keep it closed or open? OR does the power just turn it on and off? Sometimes there can be communication issues plugging a Insteon device into a power strip or UPS so you will have to test and make sure it’s reliable too but that could be an option for backup. Obviously your taking a risk here if it cant communicate, but the same could be said for the actual water leak sensors being wireless and battery operated sending the command. Theres a thread here for water leak programs thats really good, do a search. It will monitor heatbeats and notify you for low battery etc. Assuming the WSOV always needs power then a second option could be you add an extra panel with battery to the Elk panel (Elk-P624) and wire the shutoff valve to it for power/backup. The downside is IF the shutoff valve needs power to keep it closed then you need to figure out the total power draw for the WSOV (water shutoff valve) for the battery to drain. Would this give you ample time? This would also assume your wire for the WSOV goes to the Elk panel. If you just need power to open and close this is the best route. Lastly if you can wire the water leaks you can use a GRI water leak sensor direct to Elk panel and then use the panel to power them and the WSOV. You just need to make sure again you have enough battery backup for the valve and security if you have a power outage. The nice thing about the Elks WSOV is it only needs power to turn on and off, then it can plug in directly to the panel for power and the single battery backup is enough. At the end of the day your still going to need the Elk module for the Insteon to Elk communication. Confused yet? [emoji848][emoji1787] There are options.

Yes because the only way the ISY water leak detectors can communicate to the Elk (Insteon to Elk) is via the ISY module. If you want to put in normal wired water leaks then you can use the Elk direct and use rules. I am an Elk installer/reseller and use the ISY Elk Module with Elk all the time, well worth the $100. I am not 100% certain the water shutoff valve will work direct with the Elk panel either. You may have to use an IOLinc to turn it on if water is detected. Some of those need the power to stay closed to keep it in the closed position if the water zone is violated. They have different versions and when I called USS customer service for another customer who wanted the cheaper version they couldn’t give me a straight answer, so I stayed with the Elk water shutoff.

Do you have the Elk water shutoff valve and Elk module for the ISY?

There was a change in the secure protocol and it broke it. The only way for Elk/ISY to communicate now is via nonsecure port but as stated already it wont matter bc its on the same network. There was a long thread about this maybe last year around this time.

Make sure that the port info is correct and your using the non-secure port. You also need to enter a valid alarm code pin in the isy setup.

Good to hear you got it working. I could never get all the scenes properly shown. I have yet to go back and try the newest version though. Could be my config settings.

Do you see speed issues (lag)? I used this company before for transferring all my gmail emails out of gmail to another provider and while it worked it was slow. Also IIRC they did charge a fee.

Yeah that makes no sense most have integration directly with the other systems, so why not use the logic there bridging it all systems together? I prefer to keep each system “clean” and then all the macros, logic, etc in one area whatever that maybe. ATEOTD theres many ways to cook a hamburger and none of us are right and wrong. Just personal preference.

Thats whats so wonderful about access to all these systems and devices, so much to choose from and you can make sure your customers best interests are met rather than forcing too much or not having enough.

Why are you installing Insteon (or ZWave) with an ISY for customers say over a Lutron Caseta or Select system? The Lutron app is free, you can give them access to make changes and the communication issues are non existent. Add to the ease of using a iphone to program the system quickly onsite, I don’t see the benefits anymore for Insteon/ZWave/ISY. Add to the fact voice control etc.

So my “daily driver” is a Ford Edge but on the weekends and special occasions I drive the “other” car This is the Lamborghini Urus. I was the first to take delivery of one in the 5 PNW states last November. There are about 10 total right now and I have the only red one. This thing is a beast. AWD, All wheel steering, V8 twin turbo 640 HP engine, largest production ceramic rotors with 6 pistons for the front. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds - for a SUV that weighs 4900 lbs! Its the fastest production SUV in the world, tops out about 190 MPH. I can’t even explain how amazing it is. I have let a few of my close friends drive it and all have smiles from ear to ear when they get out. If I can’t share it with my friends why have it right!? Yup. I personally liked driving the Hurican but I am tall and it’s uncomfortable as hell. I can’t imagine it as a daily driver. After a few days I swapped out to Bentley Benayga which is like driving on a cloud, a soft fluffy, fast cloud. I am an Aston Martin guy through and through. I am looking at getting an used 2014 Aston Martin V12 N/A Vanquish. That said this new house is costing me a fortune so right now its just a dream.

What about using a variable? If the gate is open gate=1 - if not 0 - when gate=1 then announce. I use the Honeywell Outdoor sensor and echo speaker and it just repeats inside and send push notifications if the gate is open. Same issue for me (my dogs).

I don't mean to start anything, but if your an installer you should already know the best options out there. IMHO posting an installer question on an ISY forum is not going to yield the best results. Most here are DIYers who are heavly invested in the ISY/Insteon. Second that with no access and price point of C4, RTI, Lutron. I am an installer as well and as much as I love the ISY and the various Insteon products there are, for a 10,000 sq ft home I wouldn't even attempt it for the sake of communication errors. The bottom line is does the client want to pay for the better equipment and budget? Then create the best system you are familiar with and install it. Otherwise your going to lose money (aka time) in call backs and troubleshooting.

Are you an AV installer? C4 and RTI are dealer only products not DIY. For a home that large I would do Lutron RadioRA2 with RTI.

Using the Nodeserver makes a huge difference.

A week ago I had the Lamborghini Huracan 610-4 for a few days. What a crazy fast car! V10 N/A with 610HP

Was invited to a private Lamborghini Lunch Event to preview the Lamborghini Huracan EVO. I will have the pleasure to drive it personally on the track at Willow Springs CA within the next couple months.
