How to disable doorbell chime yet know it's pushed?
Scottmichaelj replied to atmarosi's topic in ISY994
@Larryllix - Sounds a lot like someone who has no kids but its ok I have no kids either. Funny thing is when I built my home I specifically said NO DOORBELL and they thought I was nuts! I work from home and hate random people coming to my door while on the phone with a client ringing the doorbell. Sad part now is although even though I am still glad I did it but when someone I dont know comes they always ask "wheres the doorbell?". Feel like putting on a fake button just so I dont have to hear the question anymore lol I did run two Cat6 lines from the front door to my AV racks/Elk panel for "one day" but that day still hasnt come. I was thinking about some sort of video intercom/camera connected to my iphone/tv/computer. So if they push a button it rings my iphone. If the iphone is on silent because I am working I am not bothered but when I am in the backyard and have guests coming I can see when they are here. Add it to an automatic door lock to let them in would be nice too. Could always add it to ring my Elk speaker as well if I wanted too. Even better would be a pathway sensor so if someone drives or walks up it notifies me before they even are at the door! Then add a slight current to the doorbell button so they get a slight shock each time they ring it if they are solicitors. [emoji48] lol Pure Evil -
Thank you for the discussion as I need to learn and figure this out for myself. @Larry - dont you have friends in the US that can buy you what you want and just reship to you in Canada? There are companies out there (I should find the name and also mention this to Teken) where they can receive shipments then reship stuff for when people cant buy a certain product in their country. @Paul the venlink is just a script on a node? Is there a Windows ver?

Signup for text notifications with the carriers and let them leave the package at the door. The god kids have cellphones but I was being sarcastic. -

Who has people coming over to their house unexpectedly? [emoji13] No one comes over to my place without texting me first to make sure I am home. When they get here they text me again. What you guys dinosaurs? No one uses a doorbell or landline anymore! Get with the program, disable the doorbell and use text messages. [emoji12] -
I agree with everything you say. The MiCasaVerde thread for Honeywell is pretty active but who wants the hassle of always supporting/fixing it. Sad part is the Honeywell TSats (non-WiFi/RedLink) are worthless, just saw one sell on eBay for a buck. I am looking at a Venstar T7900 for my own setup now.
-
Larry the T8900 is a commercial unit. Is there a reason you dont want the T7900 instead? I may have a "in" soon with Venstar.

Does anyone else have a issue with scraping the TotalConnect site to get their thermostat working or is the main factor keeping things internal? I personally dont care either way so am still thinking of moving forward on this. Although only one person has reached out and posted a response. Should I just let it go?

Yeah but the API appears to be able to set dim levels. [emoji41] We'll see. I'm just happy to see companies supporting Amazon Echo in turn giving it stay power. [emoji106]

Amazon has updated the Amazon Echo with some more new features today, this time bringing along support for Samsung's SmartThings, allowing you to control just about anything in your house with just your voice. The update brings support for all SmartThings products, including the SmartThings Hub and SmartThings outlet, and getting set up seems fairly easy. Amazon says that once you've set your devices up in their respective apps, you simply say "Alexa, discover my appliances" to your Echo. From there, you can easily control different appliances in your house by talking to Alexa, with Amazon giving the following examples: "Alexa, turn on the television." "Alexa, turn on the stereo." "Alexa, turn off the lamp." "Alexa, turn on the porch light." Also in this update are some new Skills for Alexa, which were previewed with an initial set in last weeks update. This week, you can enable Alexa's new Bingo and Cat Facts skills to get some game time in with the digital assistant and maybe learn some new fantastic feline facts. http://www.androidcentral.com/amazon-echo-scores-support-smartthings-hardware?utm_source=ac&utm_medium=dlvrit

Larynx, sorry I haven't responded in a couple days to say thank you and let you know how things turned out. I added/change the programs as you suggested however the "reminder" program wouldn't run on its own after being enabled. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. Needless to say I had to change the time/speed up the reminder so I wasn't waiting forever to test. It appears I had to add "Run If" line on the first program (see below). I am still testing it to make sure all is good but I think this has me on the right track. LeeG that was a very helpful explanation of the "else" command. I always get confused how it works in the programs and I think its clearer to me now that you explained it. Thank you Larryllix and LeeG for both of your help. If From 10:30:00PM To 5:00:00AM (next day) AND { Elk Zone 'Family-Motion' is Violated OR other zone is Violated } AND { <----Elk triggers may not require this section. Elk Zone 'Family-Motion' is not Violated <----disables 'reminder' if motion starts again. AND other zone is not Violated } Then Wait 30 minutes Enable program 'reminder' Run Program 'reminder' (If) Else Disable program 'reminder'

Maybe I am misunderstanding and when you say scrape you mean simply using the "website" rather than direct with the API? Did you look at any of the links? It appears most of the work is done. Without getting off topic too much do you just not care anymore or have/are you planning on switching, and if so to what? At the end of the day I agree with you, but for those of us who have these and to help the community whats the difference how we get there so long as we do?

Guys I found some info that could be helpful from a couple other sites. https://customer.honeywell.com/resources/techlit/TechLitDocuments/31-00000s/31-00002.pdf https://github.com/nottings/python-honeywell-thermostat/blob/master/honeywell_db.py https://community.smartthings.com/t/honeywell-smart-wi-fi-thermostat-compatibility/602/112 http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,30125.0.html It does appear that we have to use the Honeywell TotalConnect website/cloud. I have an TC account setup and hardware installed so happy to test. I have also applied but never got a response for the API. I have made a couple calls direct and sent emails but cant get anywhere with Honeywell. I figured I would pay a dev costs upfront to look at since I cant code and then just ask for donations. IOGuy or fstanek can you look at this information to see if it is helpful and could you take the project on? Then we just paypal you with donations for your work? Looks like all the work is done just need to apply it to the ISY or put it via python on another NODE. $1M dollars muhaaaaa! /sorry couldnt resist!
-
Maybe I should have said anyone want to donate to chip in to pay a dev to make this? If we all put money in the pot this could happen faster. I am looking for a dev now.
-
Anyone still interested in this? I am thinking about getting a dev to get this implemented. Not sure what it will take. Anyone onboard? The API/info is out there so we just need to put the pieces together.

Seems like I am always forgetting to turn on the alarm at night for some reason so I put a simple timeframe program to have the Elk Speaker "remind me" the alarm is disarmed. However if I have friends over past the timeframe its annoying to hear it tell me every 30 mins its not armed. Then I get harassed that about my "automated house". I tried the below program but its wrong. Can someone look at it and help me fix it? Do I need two programs, or variables? One for the "timer" and one for the "reminder"? Basically all I want is if the motion detectors on my Elk in certain rooms have been "violated" (aka motion sensed) starting at 11pm then don't "remind me" but set motion as a timer from the last 30m it was motion was sensed. This way if it doesn't sense anything in those areas 30 minutes after the last motion is sensed on any of the detectors then I get reminded. If it does then wait 30mins from the last time motion was detected from the most recent motion sensor and if it doesn't then finally remind me. Does this make sense? Thanks in advance for the help. If From 11:00:00PM To 5:00:00AM (next day) And Elk Area '1' 'Armed State' is Disarmed And Elk Zone 'Family-Motion' is not Violated Then Repeat Every 30 minutes Set Elk Speak Word 'Alarm' Set Elk Speak Word 'Is_disarmed' Else Wait 30 minute

Thanks again for the guide. I got everything setup and working perfectly. Now to start playing around and adding more stuff.
-
Thank you! Seems to me there should be a better a way to have up-to-date guides than trying to find it X amount of posts in a thread. Maybe its me and I am just lazy for not reading through the complete thread?
-
Is there a complete and up-to-date "How To" guide for setting up the Echo and ISY? If so can you please point me in that direction? I just got a Echo on Prime Day and want to set it up with my ISY. Thanks in advance.

Yeah but what happens if you sit at the front door chatting with someone more than 5 mins? Maybe it would be better if I add lines for the lights with an "and" in the "IF statement" so that if the main lights in the scene are dimmed then the sunset scene just doesnt run? I may give it a try.
-
Can anyone help me with the program of sunset or disregarding scenes changing? IE I have a sunset scene - this runs similar to the MS for dark days posted by another user or by time of day. However I may turn on lights and adjust them before the sunset becomes in effect. So for example I maybe will have on an office light, then sunset in turned on and my office light goes off. Or maybe a light in the dining room or bedroom is set lower dimming level then the sunset scene turns on and brightens it. Is there anyway to adjust to leave the lights at the set scenes if they are dim or on? In the summertime hours its stays lighter longer so like right now I will be watching TV with my "TV Mode Lighting Scene" and then sunset turns on brighter so I need to hit the button again to put my lighting back into TV Mode. Kind of annoying. Can someone help me setup a better way?

Insteon motion sensor for bath fan vs toggle and timer.
Scottmichaelj replied to chachdog's topic in ISY994
I do mine a bit differently. I have mine on a LONG timer but also when switched off they switch back on for another 10 mins then off again. Just sayin...for those times you could use a bit longer for lets say, guests. -
So I got frustrated with this but circled back to it today and got it working with the garage receiver and an IOLInc. I probably should have just bought a "HomeLink Receiver" instead of the MyQ Security+ Liftmaster 635LM Receiver. I still may as it required one extra step of using the HomeLink converter remote (which I had) to convert the Security+ remote code to a HomeLink one for programming the HomeLink buttons in the car. So on the I took the two connections from the Liftmaster and plugged them into the "Ground" and "Sense" connections on the IOLinc. Under the IOLinc options I selected "Momentary C: Trigger based on sensor input". I then tested to make sure the "sense" on the IOLinc worked and it did. I then wrote the following two programs: Program #1 HomeLink Arm Alarm - [iD 0027][Parent 0007] If Elk Area 'Home' 'Armed State' is Disarmed And Status 'GDR-Sensor' is On Then Set Elk Area 'Home' Arm Away Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Program #2 HomeLink Disarm Alarm - [iD 002A][Parent 0007] If Elk Area 'Home' 'Armed State' is Armed Away And Status 'GDR-Sensor' is On Then Set Elk Area 'Home' Disarm Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') I tried to get it to HOLD "ON" then turn off but the ISY doesn't seem auto query the sensor to realize its back to the "Off" after my set time limit and using Momentary A so I went this route. I do have Pushover sending me notifications when the Alarm is Armed/Disarmed so while its not fool proof I would somewhat know as long as I had my phone. Any thoughts how to strengthen this program or adjustments feel free to post I would love the input. If anyone else is looking to do this, it is possible and hopefully this thread/post will help someone in the future.

Programming Question (Wait condition before notification)
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
No its a wireless alarm sensor that can work with Elk alarm systems via the ISY Elk add-on. However you do need an ELK-M1XRF2H for your Elk alarm. You can then use any of the Honeywell/Ademco 5800 series wireless products with it. For example I have a Honeywell wireless 5809 heat detector in my garage. Now my side gates are fully secured. I am hooked into the UDI "ecosystem" and if I cant get something to work with the ISY I usually don't get it! http://www.security.honeywell.com/hsc/products/intruder-detection-systems/wireless/door-window-sensor/314990.html http://www.elkproducts.com/product-catalog/elk-m1xrf2h-m1-wireless-receiver-for-honeywell-transmitters -
Programming Question (Wait condition before notification)
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
Thanks for your help. This was the end result for me if anyone cares. My program: If Elk Zone 'Left Side Gate' is Violated And Elk Zone 'Left Side Gate' is not Normal And Elk Area 'HOME' 'Armed State' is Disarmed Then Set Elk Speak Word 'Left' Set Elk Speak Word 'Side' Set Elk Speak Word 'Gate' Set Elk Speak Word 'Open' Wait 30 seconds Send Notification to 'Pushover' content 'Side Gate Notification' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') My "Side Gate Notification" (Pushover) is set as: URGENT! ${elk.zone.#.name} OPEN ${alert.date} at ${alert.time} I have an Elk speaker so as soon as the gate is opened it tells me "Left side gate open". Then if the gate is not shut in the 30 seconds then I get a Pushover notification. Works perfect and exactly what I wanted, thanks larryllix!
