Synchrolinc Help (Request Failed) when clicking "Options"
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
Lol oh and it is a glorious shower indeed! I treated myself well when I had my custom home built. Its about 4x6x10 with 2 Rainheads, 6 bodysprays, a handheld spray plus steam with aroma therapy all controlled by Kohler DTVs. Yes there is also music and a two person jacuzzi tub! Nothing was left out. Edit: oh and I need 2 88,000 BTU 100G hot water tanks to use it without running out of hot water! -

This worked perfectly, Thank you @larryllix. Seems I need to learn how to properly use the 'logic' with 'else'. -
+1 what Teken says. The clamping ones allow you to reuse which is nice and they dont twist the wire ends. I have used these and never had issues beside fitment inside the electrical box. I seem to find they are more reliable holding the wires too. Edit: oh and they dont hurt your fingers from twisting tight after doing a bunch of swapping out switches like I just did recently!

Synchrolinc Help (Request Failed) when clicking "Options"

So it now is working fine ON/OFF commands are being seen and I haven't had any communication issues. One last thing maybe you can help me with? My shower is controlled by an electronic thermostatic valve and control panel. When I turn on the shower the SL will turn ON/OFF but I think my program logic is wrong. This is what I am trying to do: When I turn on the shower the SL turns ON the shower fan. When I turn the shower off the fan continues to run for an additional 10 mins before turning off. Here is my program but its not working. What am I doing wrong? Do I need two different programs? Do you have a name who is testing it at Amazon? I have a friend who is a dev at Amazon who possibly could reach out for us.

OK I restored the device (SL) as instructed, then I went into the link record and now I see an "E2 01 ......." - see attached pic. I will have to test when I get home if the SL is working now correctly. Is the 25.16.A1 a device or is it my PLM? I don't see it in my list of devices. EDIT: Forgot to add screenshot. Why do I always have to edit my posts?! -

The SL is was located in the place it needed to be for the Event Trace shown. Attached is my Links Table, which it appears its tied to a device of 25.16.A1 that I do not have. This is even after restoring the PLM which I thought removed the dead links/devices. EDIT: Screenshot attached -

So I moved the SL to another plug and it works fine ON/OFF - so the SL is not defective or the issue. So it must be a communication issue where its plugged into. Not sure how or if I can actually fix it so I may have to just forget the whole idea. I can query it fine but the state is not being switched ON/OFF when the device is changing. This is hooked up to an electronic thermostatic valve so I can't move it to another plug etc. Here is my log when I query the device. The SL address = 19.8F.A7 - I put a filter on it as well without success. Anyone have ideas? I need it to control an exhaust fan so a "X" min query program won't really work well for this situation. Anyone have any thoughts? Synchrolinc Help (Request Failed) when clicking "Options"
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
Thanks thats what I was thinking about doing too. Will report back this weekend my findings. -
MyQ uses a different method for the open/close button and therefore cant work directly connected to an IOLinc. I have a MyQ system and whats already been suggested is the only way unfortunately. I havent seen any release of the APIs/REST commands either allowing us a nicer workaround. Soldering wires to a remote then connecting them to the IOLinc is the best way at the moment to use an insteon device to control the GDO.

Synchrolinc Help (Request Failed) when clicking "Options"
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
So I removed the SL and then restored the PLM. Then added back to SL and can now can access the options without an error. The options are being saved and the SL light turns green/on and red/off as expected HOWEVER it does not seem like the SL is sending the actual on/off commands. Nothing is showing in the event viewer when it turns on/off. If I query the SL in the admin console then it shows the proper status. Is this a communication issue? I have two door sensors and two switchlincs in the same area that are working perfectly, so its strange just the SL is having a issue. Maybe its defective? -
This is what I do and it works well.

So to be clear if I restore my PLM to clear the missing devices, I skip the battery devices? None of the "missing links" are from a battery device. If this is the case then that will be MUCH better! -

Thanks LeeG. What a PITA for two deleted devices. Now I have to put all my motions, water leak detectors, door sensors, etc in linking mode just to do a Restore Modem (PLM)! Just another "to do" for this weekend. -
Synchrolinc Help (Request Failed) when clicking "Options"
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
Hmmm looks like possibly an old device that was removed but still in the PLM link table. Anyway to remove it from the PLM without the device? EDIT: I just did a query and found a couple more. Whats the best way to either remove them or fix this? -
I just added my first Synchrolinc and adding the device went fine however when I click on the "options" button in the ISY admin console I get a "Request Failed" error. There is no prompt to click and hold the set button down till it flashes to enter the options and the manual only says to use the to set for "load sense" but that should be for outside the ISY. Is this truly a communication error or am I dong something wrong? I don't have any communication errors normally in my home so its strange this is happening so figure I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help. EDIT: Added my log. Looks like there maybe a communication issue. The last two lines the HOPS=0. No error adding the device or removing it just changing the options. I plugged a filter on the synchrolinc for the item its attached too as well just to see if it helped and it didn't. Sorry cant help but wanted to say what you have done here is very impressive. Are you doing anything else to record these readings in a spreadsheet for charting/graphing? Would be cool for historical purposes.
-
Nothing more to add but +1 to what Paul said and I am too waiting.
-
So I changed the url to remove the 0030 which was added by the mapper, made the desired friendly name as Living Room Shades and now everything is working. I can actually say "Alexa open living room shades" and they will open by running my programID 003C, and then I changed the close url to program ID 3D and now can say "Alexa close living room shades" and they will close". Pretty snazzy stuff. Thanks bartenders for pointing out the 0030 that fixed it. I didn't want to mess around with the urls but that was the fix. Off to go play around some more.
-
So I changed it to "Living Room Shades" the On URL = http://username:password@ip:port/rest/programs/0030/003D/runThenbut the console and url are giving me a error 404. The program works fine through the admin console of the ISY. Maybe I will just wait a bit longer until the Skills are available. Its a "program" though not a device. My devices work fine. Results from the url direct in the browser = <RestResponse succeeded="false"> <status>404</status> </RestResponse>
-
Quick question. I am still using the mapper and have added a couple programs. I named them "Open Living Room Shades" and "Close Living Room Shades". However Alexa is back talking me, telling me I have multiple devices named that and she wont run the program. Should I be naming them something smaller? Maybe the command is wrong? Do I say "turn on open living room shades"? Or what?? The programs have been discovered. Thanks in advance for the help.
-
Thats great news! Thanks for all the hard work it took to do this.

Why even use a switch at all?! Get an Amazon Echo and be done. /half sarcasm But the Echo would work and you dont need to wire anything. Just a thought.
