Programming Question (Wait condition before notification)
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
Got it. I use folders now but didn't know about the parenthesis. As for the notification why take it out of the then section and separate it? -
Programming Question (Wait condition before notification)
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
So this did work: If ( Elk Zone ‘Left Gate’ is Violated And Elk Zone ‘Left Gate’ is not Normal ) And Elk Area ‘Home’ 'Armed State' is Disarmed Then Wait 30 seconds Send Notification to 'Pushover' content 'Side Gate Open' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') But I will revise to your new program and test. Is "folders" what the parenthesis are called? I need to look up how these are used in the wiki -
Programming Question (Wait condition before notification)
Scottmichaelj replied to Scottmichaelj's topic in ISY994
Thank you very much for the help, will try this out. So I would put "only if the Elk alarm is unarmed" as the first line in the IF section? I don't want a notification if this happens when the alarm is triggered, already get a notification for them. -
I have two side gates with Outdoor Honeywell 5816OD Sensors on them. I want to receive a notification if the gates are left open for more than a minute (when unarmed) and need a bit of clarification how to do this. I was thinking I could do this easy as one program but I don't think it will work. Would this be best for a variable? Like a program that sets the variable to 1 and 0 based on the zone violation from the ELK (1=Opened/Violated and 0=Closed/Normal) - then program 2 sees variable 1 and waits then checks to see what the variable is after the time frame needed and sends a notification if its not back to 0? How would I do this? Thanks in advance for the help.

Who needs Apple HomeKit for Siri or Mobilinc voice control if this works? This will fill the voice control the gap I really am interested in. Sometimes I have my hands full and need a light turned on so this would be great.

Black and Decker has the Freewire but now your back to X10 and possibly flakey system again. In the past I had one to do something (forget now) then gave it away to someone here on the forum. As for the 635LM on the Elk relay its always N/O - so hoping that it would be sensitive enough to see the trigger and work. Its not too expensive so I may take Xathros advice and try that.
-
You know Elk has a relay board (924) I was thinking about picking up and then see if that would work with a zone and directly arm/disarm the system. http://www.elkproducts.com/product-catalog/elk-924-sensitive-relay

Sorry Im on 8.1.1 and cant upgrade as there is no jailbreak. I need jailbreak for hotspot on my grandfathered unlimited data plan. Otherwise hotspot via ATT I lose unlimited data and pay more per month. Guess I just stop being a tightwad and pay Mobilinc $30 for the year so I can have the icon on my today screen and hope something happens in a year that changes it. IOLinc instructions say not to feed more than 5V into it and I think the 635LM is 14V
-
If you look at the thread url I posted in my first post this looks like it was possible with an IOLinc. As for arming, I was going to use variables for arm/disarm. You dont think that would work? Arm set variable 1, if variable 1 set to 0 and disarm...no?
-
Still seems like a bit of a hassle. Wish there was an easier way. Now this means I have to buy another thing to try. I wonder if a HomeLink garage door receiver with an IOLinc would be easier.

So I would put the micro module inside the electrical box then use the "sense" wire to control the ISY program? The frustrating thing about this whole thing is how something that is seems so easy to be able to be done has been such a PITA! All I wanna do is when I leave the house I want to arm/disarm the alarm easily. I can do it via the mobilinc app but it doesnt handoff from wifi to lte very well so there is delays. I have to turn on my phone, unlock it, swipe up to turn off wifi, open the app and then arm the alarm. I could get a mini insteon remote but then thats another thing to get lost/broken in the car. I thought about an app that an icon on the today screen but you have to pay for mobilinc connect for that feature (I dont need the others) or using ctrlhome but loose my jailbreak as it only works with iOS 8.3, which I like for a hotspot on my iphone with my grandfathered unlimited plan. So I thought the Liftmaster 635LM with homelink would work but the 636LM doesnt play well with the IOLinc route I was planning. I have an RTI XP6 processor on my remote control system with relays but again issues with the 635LM not doing a traditional open/close. IFTTT maybe somehow? A "DO" button? A url shortcut on my homescreen or using the launcher app? Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Not too concerned about the issue of it being "secure" as I do have PUSHOVER notifications whenever the system is armed/disarmed I know.

Anyone else regret installing a Home Automation system?
Scottmichaelj replied to jmed999's topic in ISY994
Lets see right now I have a extra PLM, 8 On/Off modules, 2 LampLinc modules, a micro module, 2 2477Ds, 2 2477Ss, 1-8 Button and 1-6 button kepypadlincs, 1 door sensor, a motion sensor and an IOLinc. Am I obsessed? I think I maybe. Most of these are backups if one fails. -
Insteon Homekit Hub is now available! implications for ISY users?

Very interesting product. Thanks for sharing. -
Insteon Homekit Hub is now available! implications for ISY users?
Scottmichaelj replied to gilkman's topic in ISY994
I am going to wait for a bit and see what Wes/InsteonNut has up his sleeve (if anything). If Mobilinc is improved and has Siri integration then not sure what else the HomeKit SmartHub brings to the table that the ISY doesnt already do. I still see hope with the ISY and Mobilinc. Interesting times ahead. I would love to see The Internet of Things (IoT) become the main protocol and everyone else interact with them, but we all know thats not going to happen. Each company (Apple, Google, Smarthome) wants you locked into their system, but who knows Im not a dev so it maybe possible down the road. -
So are you saying use an actual Homelink "Remote Lamp Control"? (https://secure.homelink.com/remote-lamp-control-detail) Then using the Homelink button in the car that would turn on/off the remote lamp control, but how would the ISY know the status so you could write the rule?
-
So can anyone help me specifically with this? IE Click the HomeLink button in the car and arm/disarm the alarm? Cant figure out how to do this with the Liftmaster 635LM. The 635LM is being used solely for the purpose of Homelink to arm/disarm. I still have another HomeLink button to control my garage door via the HomeLink Repeater Kit https://secure.homelink.com/homelink-repeater-kit-detail- I thought using a 635LM I could trigger an monetary open/close (or on/off) that the IOLinc or something else could identify to then trigger a program.

Check out something like SnapAVs "auto heal" function on their WattBoxes. The WattBox pings the ISY IP and can't "see it" (IE the ISY is not responding via the IP) it will auto reboot the outlet by itself. Theres also a free app (OvrC)or direct via the web that allows you to connect remotely to the WattBox and reset any of the outlets you want saving you from rolling out a truck to the customers home. Feel free to ask me if you have any additional questions answered. SnapAV products can only be sold by dealers though. Panamax and their bluebolt products have similar features just not sure about the auto heal. You can also get automated emails/notifications sent to you per customer before they even call to fix them yourself automatically saving time and energy. This is not an end all solution as you need to find out why the ISY is freezing up but its possible it could be a nice help on future installs you do as failsafe.

Isy Network Resource for Key Digital Matrix Switcher
Scottmichaelj replied to ldrinc's topic in ISY994
An RTI remote system in your home with an XP Processor I find this best handled on the remote side not the ISY side making it a cleaner and more stable connection. Also FWIW I have a lot of experience with SnapAV Matrix Switches, so wanted to point out if there is a power outage on the Matrix Switch then you may need to reboot the ISY and the Matrix switch sometimes doesn't "disconnect" properly on loss of power. Sometime to test and try to make sure if all works. -
My understanding is the HomeLink works with the Liftmaster 635LM. Then connect the Liftmaster to a IOLinc to get the "message" (on/off commands?) to the ISY which I can use to create my program? Am I missing something here? How would the ISY get the Liftmaster messages without an IOLinc installed?
-
A while back there was a post similar titled "How to use vehicle garage door buttons with ISY?" however this post has been archived. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/8848-how-to-use-vehicle-garage-door-buttons-with-isy/ My goal is to ARM AWAY MODE/DISARM the ELK panel direct from the HomeLink button in my car. I am not trying to actually control the garage door to open and close (although that would be nice too) - I have a Liftmaster #8550 garage door opener. Additionally I have an Elk panel (plus ISY Module), as well as a Insteon IOLinc #2450 and Liftmaster 635LM (with garage door opener/remote) - So I am guessing the 635LM wires get connected to the IOLinc N/O & COM connections? What should the IOLinc "options be set to"? I do hear the 635LM click on each time I press the remote so I know they are communicating fine. I just can't get the IOLinc to respond correctly. Sorry I am just a bit confused and been playing with it a couple hours this afternoon and I can't seem to figure it out. Not to mention I haven't gotten to the programming it to the ISY. Then there is also the need to get the HomeLink to work with the Security 2.0+ receiver! Thanks in advance for the help/response I do appreciate it.

Anyone else regret installing a Home Automation system?
Scottmichaelj replied to jmed999's topic in ISY994
I have to agree with oberkc, teken and the others who specifically say HA is not about fancy cell phone apps. Home automation should be about "automation". It shouldnt be something you have to think about, do or explain how to use. It should happen naturally, for example basic sunset and sunrise settings. I despise opening an app to do something. Some things I cant image living without are also things like when I open the door to my master closet the light turns on/off by itself, same with my pantry and laundry room, which are normally areas you have your hands full. To me Home Automation is about making my life easier not more complicated. I dont like tinkering with my setup and usually once I have a scene or program setup I dont have to touch it. I do have high end remotes and this bridges the gap as well in the fact I can make a button and use to to control just about anything in my home. If Im on the couch watching TV I can control my lights, arm/disarm the alarm, etc. I also am a big fan of Pushover notifications for specific events that are important, like the arming and disarming of my Elk Alarm, Water Leak Sensors and whatnot but this doesnt mean I want a million emails to sift though either to micro manage, as I dont have the time. I did take the time and spent the money to build my system right from the base including things like filters and phase couplers, plus had an electrical plug put close to the electrical panel for the PLM to be for shorter communication transmitting. At this point I cant imagine lift without mu ISY and HA. -
Thanks Xathros for the info. This app looked like it would fit the bill but it requires firmware 8.2 and up but Im using a JB 8.1. I have AT&T with the grandfathered "unlimited" data plan and they wont let me use my phone as a hot spot unless I downgrade my data plan. I use my phone as a hot spot quite regularly while traveling with my laptop and ipad. Oh the conundrum! Lol any other ideas?

Yup I knew it, I was being dense. So in the link you posted if you go into the "Data Sell Sheet" pdf at the very bottom it mentions this part "Power Lock Deadbolt (041A6102) ensures the door cannot be forced open." Not sure why my builder installed system doesnt have it. Can you manually release the lock? I dont see how to lock unlock it from the app. Is it only via the panel in the garage? I guess I will look at the installation manual so I can see more details how it works. Thanks for sharing.
-
Ok either Im dense (which I am sometimes) or missing something. Maybe I am speaking my own language and not explaining myself right? The lock is an actual lock you can use to stop the actual physical opening of the rollup garage, which can be enabled/disabled automatically instead of the manual slide lock. The link you posted to the Liftmaster doesnt show an actual "lock". Im confused. Again I have a MyQ opener too. Granted the lock cost is pricey but thats cheaper then most peoples insurance deductible assuming $1000 is the norm and I think the lowest most companies allow.
-
Thanks for sharing this I think this may fit the bill for what I am looking for. I have the MyQ garage door with battery backup and I like it a lot. However even though you get notifications and such via the app if your on vacation say snorkeling off the beach in the Hawaii and not having your phone, its nice to have something secured. Even with a monitored alarm system if someone opens the garage they can snatch and grab before anyone can respond or do anything about it. This would stop that from happening. This lock would also would be a good option for those who have vacation homes. Its always important to think about fire safety and being able to get out via manual control which is another reason I like that lock. Guitartexan please post back what products you decided on and how it goes for others.
