Open/Close sensor - Bug?
I received four brand new open-close sensors which I knew were older stock. I was very pleased to see the heartbeat and jumpers still in place! Your device must have been much older stock laying around. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent

Security issues with rules/program order
GDO are offered primarily as a of convenience the fact you can open - close a door is simply a side effect of security. As I have written many times before security is a lifestyle of awareness and knowing the areas of faults and opportunity of penetration. In more than 25 years in the security field I have yet to see ten houses in a row actually deploy any real security in their homes. 90% of the populace simply do with out and what ever is presently in the home thats what they use. 5% of the populace install some form of noise maker in the hopes of deterring potential thieves. Of the 5% of these people only 50% of them actually have their system monitored by a certified CS (Central Station). Of the remaining 3% of the populace upgrade their dead bolts / door knobs. Of those 3% that do are basically living a lie in thinking these automated locks are providing themselves any real force protection. It doesn't and simply siphon's money out of their thin wallets . . . The remaining 2% are the only people who truly understand what security is. That is its a lifestyle, being aware, not advertising, and running stealth. These people use force protection as the first line of hardening the premises. It is not a second thought or option it is the primary option and deployed first! One only needs to go to NYC and see almost every building covered in rot iron gates, doors, bars etc. Does anyone believe this is simply for looks? This was done because no matter how loud a siren is, or how bright a strobe is, or even how fancy a lock set is with BLE, remote status. You simply can not breach a out-swinging rot iron door in 30 seconds. Couple this with solid door reinforced strike plates, door jambs, door guards, and of course a real mechanical dead bolt. As oberkc indicated life is about balance and compromise . . . I know lots of folks who live deep in the sticks and locking ones doors, leaving keys in the ignition is a way of life. Those who live in larger cities or where crime is prevalent need to do more. To be fair to Smartlabs Insteon has never been endorsed as being a security system but does add value and auxiliary support to an existing security alarm system. People simply need to be realistic about what it can do and limitations of such.

Garagelinc sensor problem
1. Do you have trigger reverse enabled in the I/O Linc? 2. What type of sensor do you have? The little small one offered currently by Smarthome or the larger SECO-LARM 226L-3 unit? 3. Open and close the GDO five times and watch the status of the *Sensor* does it reflect the correct state? Perform a query and confirm the state of the sensor does not change. Question on how ISY updates Internet Access?
If your router supports No-IP you will simply use it from there no computer application required. Keep in mind all DDNS services prohibit excessive polling (keep alive) pings to something like once every X hours. Paid services allow shorter polling intervals. BTW: Asus offers their own DDNS service so you won't have to pay or use that sh^t No-IP service. [emoji5]️[emoji4] Ideals are peaceful - History is violent

ISY, PLM and Using a UPS
I took a little different approach given my abilities and current needs. I have the ISY Series Controller on a shared UPS system which monitors the power to the circuit to the PLM. If power is lost to the dedicated PLM circuit it will invoke a program to cycle the power to the ISY Series Controller. It has been programmed to delay the turn on sequence for 10 seconds. A safety watch dog timer monitors the entire homes electrical system and compares the incoming POCO power vs the point of use outlet for the PLM and ISY. If both agree the power (voltage) has been lost it will initiate the power cycle. This insures the ISY is always rebooted if the PLM has lost a (defined) power ability. With respect to Tesla's Power Wall lots of us are eager to see this product come to market in 2016.

UDI PLM?
Last year Smartlabs released a hardware revision v.2.0 which was stated to have addressed the early failures by replacing the affected capacitors. Perhaps this hardware revison 1C includes the new ALL ON / ALL OFF firmware update which was Beta tested in the HUB PLM by a few Insteon users?

Phase coupler
I actually have both 4826 & 4818 units on hand. Interesting the manual indicates the 4826 does couple both single split phase and assists in X-10 communications. But, it also states it doesn't impact Insteon signal integrity. The only reason I decided to install and use the 4826 over my other 4818 passive coupler is that I have considered purchasing a few X-10 devices for a project. Unfortunately I have been side tracked on other projects and never got around to it. I haven't seen any Insteon signal degradation in my own environment at all using this active X-10 repeater.

I don't believe you're going to receive a reply as to how many units are in the *wild*. Keep in mind there are two numbers which often get quite skewed given the marketing wizards. One is actual units sold to end clients and the other is the units sold to resellers. We have all seen million units sold stats when in fact these aren't true number and can be at anytime negated. If I don't sell XXX wares I can always ship it back to the vendor like Smarthome, Home Depot, Best Buys, Walmart, Manards etc. All of these huge businesses have existing contracts where they can take on stock of items. If they don't sell or meet their sales expectations these units can be shipped back. So in essence you could have 1 million units in the distribution chain. While in the same breath these same 1 million units could be returned at anytime and that unit sale would not be accurate. The only true measure is the unit sold to end clients in the wild . . .

I believe the number of units sold to date is held private for what ever reason? I've seen this same behavior in other smaller companies which I really don't understand. There isn't a central directory that tracks the API's created to interface with the ISY that I am aware of.

Phase coupler
I think if Smartlabs continued to sell the dryer linc this would help address the whole physical coupling. All the while not eating up the breaker slots. I've enjoyed my dryer linc for years and was one of the best solutions ever offered by Smartlabs! What a shame they decided to kill off this product because it just worked . . .

Yes, if you purchase the frame kit and than add a standard decora face plate. It will look just like a wall mounted KPL. I have several installed where I needed a remote keypad. In several areas where I didn't want to do the whole recharging thing those units are hard wired via a micro USB cable. [emoji4][emoji5]️[emoji6] Ideals are peaceful - History is violent

Phase coupler
It should be noted that this coupler is passive in nature. Unlike the Range Extender (Access Point) this device is active and regenerates and repeats the Insteon signal. I would humbly suggest the use of a AP before taking up two breaker slots. Also the phase coupler does not provide any RF / power line reception - conversion. Lastly, you can always move a AP you can't move a breaker. Ideals are peaceful - History is violent

I would first suggest you upgrade the firmware to the latest 4.3.8 RC4 so everyone is using the same reference point. In the link I provided above in steps 2m1 there are two links. You will simply install the second link which indicates no PLM.

Leak Sensors
Just wanted to provide you some reference material located here: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/14895-insteon-leak-sensor-2852-222-review/ It should be noted that many people have seen over lapping behavior even with the (supposedly) same hardware / ISY firmware release. If you're seeing a quick flicker of the leak sensor LED, and also seeing the wet node toggle back from on to off. Its strange this single unit requires super fast tapping like - - - -. Whereas the other three simply need - - - - ? Can anyone decipher the flow chart provided above to complete the same task???

Insteon - importance of "hops"
Smartlabs designed the Insteon protocol to have a maximum of 3 hops to reach the intended target device. If you see that your Insteon network consistently requires 3 hops. Then, you have a communication problem . . . That can be from a lack of bridging / coupling of the two sides of the electrical feed. Or it can be from noise makers / signal suckers within the home that is impacting the Insteon signal. Lastly, it could simply be a structural issue where appliances, walls, floors, furniture are affecting the RF portion of the signal. The only thing that will help your Insteon network assuming its not noise related is to have more devices in the home. This allows the Insteon *mesh* network to propagate and help repeat the signal to the end device.

Never mind, this one unit on hand requires Speedy Gonzalez to tap the set button 4 times super fast. Doing the same thing on three other units does not require lightning fast reflex's!

Has anyone successfully been able to complete the 4 tap beacon test with this 2635-222 On/Off Module? Performing the 4 tap beacon tests results in nothing happening? The flow chart that is indicated in the full users manual makes no sense to me. Anyone who has one can you describe in detail how this is completed.
