Has nothing to do with a common address. They are simply linked to one another. When a device issues a command any linked devices simply activate. With a ISY program the system manages the activation which sometimes can be delayed. The amount of delay can be none to a few seconds in duration. Don, I will only address this from a stand alone perspective. If the devices are all linked via scenes they will always operate regardless if a controller is present or not. Outside of conditional programs executing timers, schedules, etc. Scenes should always be used first. Programs are great way to compliment a scene to add more logic such as timers, schedules, or to call upon another 3rd party device or service etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Once your Insteon network is finalized you can do the second PLM back up. This is what others such as myself have done moving forward. As LeeG indicated older devices such those I have and others around me. This practice saves a huge amount of time. For newer Insteon devices not so much. I did this also to test and ensure the PLM was fully operational. Nothing is worse than thinking you have a good spare in the closet when in fact it's DOA. This is something you need to weigh out. The only suggestion I can give you is once the back up PLM arrives. Do the same thing so the links are present and if this one dies all you need to do is swap it out. Depending upon various environmental's it can take several hours. On a side note can you confirm your unit still can activate X10 devices assuming you have any?

Sounds like you need a active repeater to make the Z-Wave Mesh fully connected. This is no different than Insteon. There had to be something to bridge the devices together and allow the signal to propagate threw the home. One would think this whole Z-Wave wireless tech would see all devices and not require more gear in the middle. But based on reading here and other forums this is typical of the system. UDI will need to chime in and confirm support for this device. Create a ticket so this can be tracked officially for you. The five nodes you indicated work fine for the One Link version I have. I left you a link in post #11 regarding the Autelis Bridge. The 1 wire sensors you can purchase via EBAY and range from $1.50 - $10.XX. Should you decide to follow through and purchase a unit please do reference the link in post #11 to the vendor.

Using a (current) Insteon solution will leave you wanting and disappointed. OP: If this is important to you and accuracy, temperature range, and extreme monitoring is the need. Using a 1 wire solution is the only tried and true method for those on a value budget. You can purchase any master controller you wish so long as it supports the 1 wire protocol you can deploy it. I've had my sensors measuring temps from ranging from -45'C to +130'C with out issue.

I have read (not confirmed) that once the 5.XX firmware branch has been released it may offer a work around for this. Basically a state variable would be able to be included into the network resource module. This same information could then (technically) send that information to a cloud hosted data aggregator like SEG. I am using SEG now as a back up energy resource in concert with my Dash Box (DB) and Green Eye Monitor (GEM). My goal is similar to yours but for pushing my 1 wire temperature / humidity sensor readings to SEG. All of this hinges on the release of firmware 5.XX and if it will allow network resources to include variables.

I have been working with this vendor for several months in the development of their Autelis Bridge. Using cheap 1 wire sensors and the Autelis Bridge linked to the ISY will provide you all the accurate and extreme temperature monitoring you could ever need. When the ISY first powers on and initiates you will indeed see a flurry of strobing of LED's which go across from left to right. If you have a cross over cable wire it to your laptop and see if you can login. If you can't even ping the device via command line the unit may be damaged. Assuming you can ping the device enter ping XXX.XXX.XXX -t <-- This will run a continuous ping until you shut down the terminal window. I do this all the time to get an idea of the network health and that of the end devices. Assuming it replies back (not dead) an increasing ping time is also indicative of a failing NIC card.

Oleg, Not to take your thread on a tangent but your example and illustration is exactly what others have seen based on another issue plaguing some ISY users. People have been seeing random ALL ON / ALL OFF issues, everyone have indicated the ISY is not aware of these events and its not captured in the logs, ever. I am going to link your thread to the ALL ON / ALL OFF thread because this might be critical in helping UDI and Smartlabs in identifying root cause.

Time permitting I would see if the logs show lots of traffic being sent out. There have been instances where battery powered devices would not go back to sleep. Some resolved this issue by simply hard resetting the device which I suppose indicates the device got locked up. Where as some customers trying the above saw no differences and had to return the device for replacement.

I would like to say one of the biggest updates in the 994 is having the ability to remote wake up and update a motion sensor. If you have a few of these devices just having this ability is worth upgrading alone. This feature also works on the hidden door sensor and mini remotes. In the short term staying with the 99 is perfectly fine. As others stated should you need to replace a device it won't work with the 99 as it won't be listed in the device table. There are still lots of people using a 99 so don't feel alone. It's a solid box so keep using it until you need to migrate to a 994. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To be fair the HL2 Software has not been updated for more than a year. I have to gather if it was still in production these options would be present and available for use. It would defeat the whole purpose of having features which are present but can not be controlled. The reality is it comes down to each vendor to decide to code to support these options. In my view it only makes sense because that is why they are there! Every time I read something along the lines of *how come this isn't available* I just back and wait for the fall out. Perhaps the stars will align one day and the Insteon Gods will make it all happen across all platforms and hardware. In the interim its best the OP place this request in the appropriate forum asking for support for said feature options. Otherwise it will get pushed down to the bottom with the rest of the threads. Michel has asked that the forum members create a poll to see the need and demand of such. It would probably be a good idea to do so if you see value in it.

I hope very much no one took any offence in my reply indicating my views. I also agree sometimes its the WAF that limits or makes us do something other than intended! [emoji6] The key thing I was trying to stress is with small kids, or as we get older having paddles in key areas that must be used at any moment in time is critical for long term safety and satisfaction. I speak from personal experience where a client asked to install all KPL's. I cautioned him the added expense was not warranted and also in the long term would not please the family unit. [emoji17] About two months later the novelty wore off and the WAF was extremely low. Trying to get Charlie Brown to pick only one miniature chicklet for the bathroom was impossible. [emoji35] He was too small, too young, and simply did not understand when he needed to pee the top upper most button needed to be selected. [emoji57] After about three pee breaks in the hall way and in around the bathroom floor. A paddle was requested for install and the KPL was moved to another less high traffic use space. Glad you got it all sorted out. As an aside, I believe lots of people tend to forget not only aesthetics but the long term use and human ergonomics of placement of a KPL vs Switch Linc. Before I went down the HA path I sat down and really thought about how switches in key areas would be used by the average person. NOTE: This is besides knowing custom keys should be used for KPL's which just makes sense. Only a fool would leave it to be A-B-C and expect the family, friends, who ever to know what each button did. So, the next step was noting daily life styles and real world use cases. In situations where your hands are full or where quick activation of a system is required a paddle should be used. I have seen a few people who have deployed KPL's on the bathrooms and really have to take pause because long term it doesn't work. I could have changed out every switch in my home to use a KPL but didn't. Because it made no sense from a human ergonomic stand point, or from a safety stand point. Every day since install (last 5-6 years) this design principle and deployment method has proven to just work and makes sense. This same basic and common sense approach is how I help others do the same in installs. Its definitely the KISS principle . . .

Right on, keep us posted. NOTE: To those reading this for the first time my views. This device has lived for almost five years with out issue and in the current electronics world that is pretty good. Given this device is also being used outside the stated operating range this also lends to the impressive reliability and operations of this device. Same as the OP I too am using this device in extreme climate conditions and know its not designed, made, or advertised as being able to. So, I have to acknowledge this I/O linc from Smartlabs is extremely impressive and robust and thank them again for making such a solid product.
