For those who own the hidden door sensor. Does it have a low battery and heart beat option box? A screen capture of the ISY options listing would be very helpful here.

The options list has a check box for low battery, and heart beat? When you set battery level are there other options to change for the battery or is it just enable / disable the low battery level warning? For the heart beat is it just a field box that can be populated with any value from 0 to 24 hours?

For the benefit of others please provide a screen capture of the options for this device. I was told the open / close would not have any updates until the new year. Clearly, if you have the ability to change the heart beat rate and a third node is now present that is a great upgrade for all of us! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You will need both the hardware and software module to use the IR feature. If you look in the little hole on the right there would be a silver round thing. Under the settings you would also have a IR tab. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes, having a KPL with a red defuser is one of the best indicator lights you could ever have for various remote locations. I have a few and love them! [emoji4] I have three LCD displays in the master bedroom, front entrance, and secure room which shows all the zones in the home and property. No, because I already have a I/O linc which controls and monitor the GDO. The purpose and intent of the wireless Insteon sensor was to have a third layer of monitoring of the position of the door without the reliance of AC power. My security alarm system already monitors the GDO independently. My use case was for another method to determine the position of the door for safety reasons. There are four cameras which monitor and watch for the door position also. Essentially the open / close sensor was deployed to allow more logic in the Insteon network all the while providing alert notification should any one system fail or be off line. You didn't. A person would need to be diligent in changing out the battery once a year and confirming operations. This is part of the reason I have considered deploying the leak sensor instead for the benefits listed above. Future open / close sensors will have both but the time line for release is unknown. No, this device does not have a heart beat / low battery indicator. You could always repurpose a leak sensor as a open / close sensor. You would need to solder or attach two wires to a external reed magnet device. Then relabel the wet / dry node to open / close. The only thing you can't change is the icon that reflects the wet water sensor. But in the big picture that isn't a big issue. Using the leak sensor program from Belias you can then receive open / close alerts, heart beat, and know if the device is in range of a RF device. I believe if you take into consideration that the unit is not weather rated and will at least be inside of the garage opposed to being on the outside. You may find the Open / Close sensor to be a great fit and solution for basic monitoring. Keep in mind you should be using high quality Lithium batteries as they operate much better in sub zero temps. It goes with out saying proper RF coupling needs to be in place if you want consistent performance. I've had two of them outside for more than four years and they have worked flawlessly in minus -50'C weather. Note, Smartlabs does not indicate or advertise the device will operate in such extreme weather conditions. So, no throwing rocks on them if the device dies under the two year warranty period.

You need to upgrade your ISY to use the latest devices from Insteon. The device signature listing is not in the last firmware release. The basic upgrade is $99.XX USD and you will need to use the AP regardless at some point even if you have a 2413S later on. As you need to couple / bridge both sides of the electrical feed.

Just as a data point I have five Venstar 1800 with humidity sensors in place. The ISY Console indicates they are 2441v, using adaptor(s) v.91 / v.92 I also see the schedule button and when pressed see a pop up message indicating: No Network Connection, DHCP state renew.

To be clear variables are great to track how long something has been on, running, off, etc. It is also a fantastic method to count an action / event. With the above a summary email can be sent out which really helps in seeing the big picture. Using the summary page to confirm an action / state is great if you're there. Officially when you select the drop down list in the ISY UI those are supported devices the system was designed to support. People have tried in the past such as I to use an existing device signature (brute force) to make something operate. It does not always work or has limited function. Hello Neil, That is actually a required safety feature. The end user must manually activate the switch thus causing it to turn on. This was done to ensure a fire hazard could not exist. To be very specific not all Insteon devices are supported by UDI. As far as I can tell it comes down to how many people they believe are going to use or have said Insteon device(s). That is kind of a loaded question and really depends upon who you ask, where they live, and when they got into Insteon. As you have already read numerous threads about this topic hence why you asked. Note some basic facts: Millions of these units have been sold and based on that percentage there have been failures. This is common with most devices you can think of. Having said this Insteon quality has gone up since day one of release. Their most recent products are more robust, energy efficient, and look better too. It comes down to random luck, how crappy the power is in your area, and what kind of surge inducing devices you have in the home. Speaking only for myself I would not hesitate to purchase more Insteon products for my home. I would however temper that statement in saying I have key rooms / areas that no high tech gear is used or allowed. This is to ensure fail over and basic control when the fancy gizmos decide to die.
