I was hoping he meant 2412S which was recently discontinued.

When plugging in the old PLM wait about 30 seconds. Then plug in the ISY. Once the ISY comes up follow the replace PLM process in the WiKi. Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Don't worry about it now. Just perform the PLM replacement process. Report back the outcome once done. Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Since its with in the 2 year warranty period I would not invest too much time to resolve this. Just submit a RMA request with SH and they will get you squared away.
-
No, you do not have to replace all of your Insteon devices. What LeeG was trying to relay was that all (natively) they all have a similar PLM chip set. If you just installed a new PLM you should have followed the replacement steps outlined in the Wiki.
-
I would probably ship back the one's under warranty and see what happens. If you see the same thing with the new replacements its safe to say there is a power issue. For this very reason I am extremely keen on monitoring the power quality that comes into my home. Along with having systems in place to off set any potential surge / sags in line voltage from the POCO. I currently have four different systems that monitor the line voltage and frequency to the home. For me this is more a hobby as I used to be in a similar field where monitoring the line voltage was critical to the end components that I managed. Keep us all in the loop as to what you decide to do and what ends up happening.

Understood about the Venstar, the point I was making was the Insteon adapter in the past caused untold grief and massive COM issues. With the last revision of the adapter it appears this issue has been resolved. For me even though it has worked correctly in an (isolated) environment not integrated into my HVAC. I am still going to be cautious about making the final hook up until my testing is all done.
-
After reading this mile long thread and tracking the efforts over the last year or so. I don't believe this issue has ever been finalized on the SH / Smartlabs side. This is probably the major reason I have never installed the five Venstar TSTATS into my home. Even though the very last Insteon adapter resolved all the on going traffic. I am not prepared to integrate the TSTAT into my Insteon network until such time as I am 100% its rock solid. I have been testing the five units for more than two years and so far it appears solid. So, maybe next summer I will get one of the T1800 Venstars hooked up so I can finally close the HVAC loop of my integration.

If you're talking about where the entire device appears to be none responsive to (local) physical control which requires the end user to perform an air gap. I have seen this due to power fluctuations or where power drops out and comes back on in an extremely short time. Older KPL's have shown to come back up pulsing and cycling the load. Where others would make a terrible beep just after power was applied back to the device. What are the years and hardware versions of these devices?

Just for my own personal curiosity: How have you integrated the smoke bridge to your Insteon network to do what besides turn on a few lights? I am always interested to see what others are doing and through those ideas compliment the same or similar.
-
If the above fails to work because its going through a router. You may have to use a cross over cable and connect directly to the ISY and make the connections then adjust the subnet mask to its previous value. NOTE: Newer laptop (some) computers can auto configure to cross over via their Ethernet card. You have a 50/50 chance of this working if a cross over cable is not available.
-
Which step did you decide to perform? Simply unplugging the PLM / ISY? Or the whole remove / link process?
-
OK, I would remove the device from the ISY. Factory reset the smoke bridge. Then follow the installation steps to a T and report back your results. I would just for the sake of testing before you do all of this. Just unplug the PLM, power down the ISY. Wait about 30 seconds plug the PLM back in. Then wait another 10 seconds and apply power to the ISY and report back what happens when you select the test button while watching the level 3 events. Post it up when your done. COM's look good. What firmware are you on now using the Help -> About? Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

If you place the smoke bridge in test mode what happens?

Yes the product is indeed made in China. I was simply clarifying who Intertek (ETL) was for the benefit of others who may be reading this thread.
-
Intertek is the testing lab similar to UL /cUL which assists the company in compliance, and meeting safety guidelines for the product. They are not the makers of the Insteon device(s). As an aside even when people joke about it. I am extremely surprised not one Chinese manufacturer has tried to release a copy cat device. As this has been done to millions of other products from sneakers, to electronics. Very surprised this has never happen . . .

That is where I do have to give credit to Smartlabs HUB II device. As far as I can tell its pretty much plug and play. The UI and the App are quite polished (even if limited in features) but does allow everyone to get up and running very quickly. I was quite sadden to read from another Insteon member that the newly released HUB II has deprecated X10 support. On the surface it was noted that House Linc (HL) software has also been removed in terms of integration. My hopes was that someone at Smartlabs was going to integrate all the great features of the HL software (diagnostics) and conditional programming into the HUB. Based on a very quick review from others that actually own the device the above features have been removed. I know lots of folks were excited about the $39.99 price point but come on . . . That is probably why its only $39.99 because it can't do a damn thing!

The one thing I will give Apple is that the frames of their laptops are excellent quality. They too have hardware related issues (video card defect, fan issue, over heating) in various model years etc. As you stated clearly there are more than ten separate companies making and selling Z-Wave products. Even though most of them look like aszz and feel even worse, the key thing is that there is not one single vendor making them. Back to Insteon / Smartlabs, I am hoping very much that the partnership with Microsoft will help their R&D, finance, or at the very least help market penetration. Its safe to say that it was a Godsend that UDI decided to offer dual use (Insteon / Z-Wave) in one box. I have high hopes for 5.XX firmware so I can finally bridge two ISY Series Controllers to have X10, Insteon, Z-Wave, Zigbee, all in one home.
-
I would suggest you engage UDI via their support line or send them a e-mail referencing this thread. Be sure to include the station(s) where you are seeing this disparity. NOTE: It was stated several upgrades were underway to include 8000+ PWS and other related fix's

Too late the HA bug has bitten and taken a hold of me already. I can't think of a better way to spend my hard earned money then on my beautiful home. Well, besides . . . Sex, and Rock N Roll . . .

Its apparent I should be more aware of the PM inbox. It has a limit of 100 messages which clearly I maxed out. My apologies to those trying to contact me. *You're assuming I want to talk to you, right?*

The Autelis Bridge is the master for two of the 1 wire sensor grid. The other is from my GEM and the last master is from a custom made unit our team built for testing a few projects that completed last year. It was retired so I asked to repurpose it for my own use.
