One button for garage open/close indicator and control?
The keypad button is set to non-toggle ON. ON will be the only command sent to the relay. Unless you have another way to send commands to the relay, the momentary mode chosen should not matter. If this concerns you, set the relay to be in momentary mode, responding only to ON commands. My reply was to address the 3 AM query. But, maybe I am thinking about this all wrong! Teken . . .

One button for garage open/close indicator and control?
The method he describes will always display the true GDO state. If the door is open, the KPL LED will remain lit. If the door is closed the KPL LED will be unlit. With respect to the relay being programmed for ON / OFF. The door would activate with either command which is not ideal. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Z-Wave Ordering
Ah I get it! If this could be done this would be a huge thing for those wanting to pursue this endeavour. Let's wait for Michel to reply back and see if this can be done. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Z-Wave Ordering
Thats an interesting question. But, I fear that won't work as the ISY needs the Z-Wave hardware to complete the processing. If it was simply a software solution I am sure UDI would have implemented this solution long ago. But, the way you describe it if your ELK can allow the Z-Wave hardware to be installed and if all it needs is the software / protocol to be sent it could work. Teken . . .

Z-Wave Ordering
You really only have two options. Purchase a Z-Wave enabled ISY-994. Or remove the Zigbee, and replace it with the Z-Wave components. A third option is to purchase another 3rd party controller like Vera 3 which supports three of the four major HA standards. Teken . . .

ISY 994 failure?
I would also add a bad memory card or corrupt firmware can also cause erratic behaviour. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

ISY99i losing location settings
Hello John, My personal experience is that the ISY is built very robust. There are not very many threads about hardware failures. Most of them are about the memory card, power supply, and random firmware corruption. The fact you have gone through so many leads me to believe you have a power issue. Please keep in mind a surge protector does not protect an electronic device from sags. A low voltage condition is actually more damaging to electronics as when voltage drops, current rises. When current rises it tends to let the magic smoke out of the box. I would also back up the unit and do a update to the latest 4.1.2. Complete another back up with the latest 4.1.2. Teken . . .

ISY99i losing location settings
John, If the time is being lost either the firmware on the ISY is corrupt, bad memory card, bad power supply, or the most likely scenario. Your AC power is being interrupted. Is the ISY on a UPS to ensure consistent and steady AC Power? Even if the there was no Internet connection the ISY keeps a pretty rock solid track of time. Teken . . .

New Zwave ZSMOKE and ZCOMBO (smoke+CO) detectors and ISY
I don't follow? They both look the same in terms of size, color, and shape? Or, are you saying, you only want one unit and not several in place? Teken . .

New Zwave ZSMOKE and ZCOMBO (smoke+CO) detectors and ISY
Yeah, unfortunately no such beast exists at the moment. Is there any reason you can't install the 120 VAC hardwired one link smoke unit and augment it with the wireless battery operated smoke / co units? Teken . . .

New Zwave ZSMOKE and ZCOMBO (smoke+CO) detectors and ISY
First Alert does make a 120 VAC hardwired one link smoke detector. I have it linked to the smoke bridge along with 9 smoke / co units. Works perfectly fine. Teken . . . Encrypted By: Phoenix Security Solutions

Help with water shut off valve needed
Another cheap and easy trick I have been using is placing a large (width) shallow container under each sink. This allows you to catch a small dripping leak while it pools in a confined space. This is where I have placed the Insteon Leak Sensors & the Flood Stop grid sensor(s). Works great and the added bonus is its used to hold odds and ends like hair spray, tissue, etc. Teken . . .

Help with water shut off valve needed
Where did I/O guys reply go to? Great deployment strategy for sure. Another thing I did was to have a none electrical device which could supplement these electrical devices. They are a burst type water line. Teken . . .

Help with water shut off valve needed
EricK, Worst case scenario is placing the water shut off valve on a UPS system. I did that initially for a few small sub systems while I deployed a much larger whole house UPS back up. I also installed a few dedicated circuits in the home which are backed up by independent UPS systems just in case. A little over kill for most but this is a life long hobby for me so no real harm other than a lighter wallet! Teken . . .

Help with water shut off valve needed
I agree with Gatchel about the delay. This is why local control must be deployed as there are many gallons / litres in the line. This is why a layered approach is key in critical system such as these. All of the point of use items in my home are controlled independently but work as a integrated system to reduce damage, and loss of life. I have personally not installed my main line water valve until I am completely satisfied the other systems are 100%. Testing and validation is paramount at all times along with regular monthly checks. Teken . . .

Help with water shut off valve needed
EricK, If you're using this in a pro active method as stated above. That would be a great solution because you're making the decision to cut off the flow of water. I am just leery about using Insteon as the sole notifier and actuator in any mission critical system. I do however believe Insteon can be a great back up to a primary system. This is the methodology I have built my system(s) upon. The convenience, alert notifications, and scene inclusion, are the key attributes I like about Insteon. Have you tested out your back up generator to see if the AC produced is acceptable and can operate via the PLM, Leak Sensor, to the I/O Link? I would love to hear how this works out. As this could be another great reference thread for those to follow your foot steps. Teken . . .

Help with water shut off valve needed
EricK, I personally would not use or count on the Insteon leak sensor to detect the presence of water. Does this valve interrupt the main water line to the home? I personally use local control and sensors to detect the presence of water. At that time the water supply is turned off along with the power to what ever device its attached to. Your method assumes AC power is present and the Insteon network is able to communicate to this water valve system. I considered the path you took long ago but opted to follow another solution.
